Epilogue at the end of Episode 5

Can someone explain what the epilogue at the end of Episode 5 after the credits ment? That can be part of the synopsis for this article. INFORMATION CENTER© ^talk ^contribs 04:46, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

To be honest, I have no idea. Usually the epilogues are either minor revelations, or a voiceover giving a preview/teaser about the next episode, but since that was the last episode/mission... Kschang77 06:40, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Checked all five episodes/operations. The epilogues only exist for episode 2 and episode 5. In episode 2, the epilogue is General Cooly learning about JAM sabotage in base TAB-15, and she's getting more info, then we get a voiceover by Bukhar about Operation 3, regarding Banshee and Tom John. All other episodes except the final one ONLY have the Bukhar voiceover teaser about the next episode. I am going to guess that this section was originally part of episode 1, but the story editor decided to cut it out, in order to start the story right at the action. Then it was put at the end of episode 5 as a filler. That's just a guess, of course. Kschang77 06:59, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Another theory I've heard is that the JAM have successfully absorbed the essence of Rei Fukai and Yukikaze, and evolved into a new plane of being. Sort of like Decker did with V'ger in Star Trek: The Motion Picture. So Rei and Yukikaze are happily flying missions of no consequence...in their minds. Kinda like living their life on a holodeck.

Further review of the epilogue shows that while the dialogue seems to be a prequel, but the plane shown was the Mave, not the Super-Sylph, so that throws my idea of "flashback" out the window. Or perhaps the war on Fairy did not really end, and a component of SAF and FAF is STILL there? It does leave the ending open to various interpretations. Kschang77 07:10, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

There are a lot of possibilities. Guess we'll have to keep guessing, or until they make a sequel to their series (not likely, but possible, i.e. just like after Gunbuster, the company (other) made Gunbuster 2). I sure wish they had an episode continuing the series where all my questions were answered, but that is very unlikely, as the series ended in Japan. However, I find that the theory of the war not ended as most likely, because, while the others make sense, this one seems accurate according to the way the epilogue was displayed. It seems fairly obvious what the meaning of the epilogue is. Bukhar himself made a comment about him being sure that Fukai was alive and well, and it is a somewhat common "trick" of anime shows to have characters say seemingly throw-away lines that actually spell out what's going on. It is obvious that Fukai and Yukikaze are in a simulated, Matrix-like world (maybe the green hue of the epilogue is a direct reference to this) where they remain together, happily ever after so to speak. Whether this simulation is something in their minds, or a planet Fairy that has been remade by the JAM to match Fukai and Yukikaze's desires (remember that they were able to make the planet appear to be whatever they wanted), it is not important. The JAM in the end decided to do this, most likely as a means of studying Fukai and Yukikaze at their leisure, to satisfy their curiosity. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.8.97.161 (talk • contribs)

Is this really mecha?

I know I'm probably splitting hair here, but I am not sure SYY really qualifies as mecha, since it has no giant robots at all. Not even small robots, even. ;) -- Kschang77 09:31, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

This IS mecha. Mecha is not only giant robots. Mecha is all the elements that comprise mechanical design, from starships to buildings, automobiles, personal accesories, etc. In that sense, even a fork can be considered mecha. -- Axel_Vant

Tone

I've slapped the inappopriate tone template on the synopsis section. Rather than a synopsis, it's more of a play-by-play. The tone, voice, and style all try to lead the reader through the plot as if they were watching the anime. Among the problems, these stick out in my mind:

It makes copious use of elipses, exclamation marks, and capitalizing entire words or phrases try to heighten suspense or provide mood.
It draws conclusions for the reader (episode 2: "so perhaps the AI was not mad?"; episode 3: "It can be inferred that John is a JAM copy..."l episode 5: "two of them forgetting that this underground cavern has a ceiling").
It uses its own (literary) devices (episode 5: "like a phoenix"; episode 5: "a knife through butter")
It presents material "in character" or as fact (episode 2: "being an independent AI, it does NOT accept orders while in flight").
It switches tense back and forth between present and past.

All in all, the "synopsis" reads more like a fanboy trying to interest the reader in the series than provide information. --68.142.14.59 17:07, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I was going to add this, too... I just couldn't find the correct template. It's also way too long for a plot synopsis (see Area 88 or Mobile Suit Gundam for a decent sized one]]. Zaku Two 18:18, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

I also added a cleanup tag and a unverified info tag, as there seems to be some useless and random information as well. I agree with you, this does have some inappropriate tone. The synopsis is quite long, and seems narrated by someone who wants to excite the reader, while simultaneously giving out information. I'm just ascertaining this here. As I was the one who wrote the synopsis, I have to say that I really did not add any explanation or interpretation to the synopsis. Everything that you read, pretty much happened exactly as described. If it *sounds* like it has too much excitement, that's because it IS that way onscreen. Just to prove it, I went out and bought all 3 Bandai US volumes and verified it scene by scene. I can probably tighten up the verbiage, but I doubt it'll look any less in-universe than it currently is. -- Kschang77 (talk) 05:57, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Questions about "Fairy=JAM"

Fairy=JAM,this is just a theory introduced by a general and it can't be proved. Also, I have seen a question in this theory: if JAM can change the appearence of Fairy, then how can FAF even built a base in Fairy? (by lowerlowerhk)

It is because the ultimate goal of JAM was to understand and study human and computer behaviour. Human can survive and live in Fairy just because JAM allowed and wanted them to. (by Richard Kam)

Synopsis Clean Up

I'm a new wikipedia user from Hong Kong. I would like to help cleaning up the synopsis part.

Currently this part is OK, but obviously has room for improvement, for example using a more accurate term "Gray Sylph" instead of "copycat Super Sylph" (a term used by Bandai on the plastic model series EX25). I have watched the whole episode for several times and some information on the 2 original novel "Sentou Yousei Yukikaze" and "Good Luck Sentou Yousei Yukikaze".

Hopefully I can contribute a little to this spectacular anime series.

Synopsis needs more template messages

The Synopsis section currently has 6 template messages. Can we get it up to 7, because that's a cool prime number? I looked for a "too many template messages" template message, but I didn't find any. Maybe there should be one? 24.77.182.227 11:18, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

UAF fighter?

I noticed that the multi-wing aircraft that is used by the FAF early in Episode 2 and by the UAF in Episode 5 is absent from the "FAF Aircraft" section of this article. Perhaps someone who knows more about this particular aircraft could edit the article? 4.255.161.112 05:17, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

Concensus about term

Shall we standardize the use of term in this articles? Like using "Yukikaze" when referring to the personality of B-503 and "B-503" when referring to the plane itself? Also the difference between "B-503" (official code name) and "B-3" (short form used by FAF pilots) shall be noted as well.Richardkam 07:38, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
