Split?[edit]

This article could do with splitting into one article about the Nation of Yahweh organisation and one about its leader, Yahweh ben Yahweh. Also we need more distinction between the organisation's beliefs and practices and the criminal practices that have happened in the past.--62.252.64.15 11:48, 2 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I just did that, Nation of Yahweh is now its own article. I also did a fairly radical rewrite of this article.--T. Anthony 12:04, 30 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

is he still in prison?[edit]

The current articles states that Y-b-Y is out on parole. This conflicts with today's (10/7/06) CNN reporting stating he is in prison requesting early release because he has cancer.

This article needs serious clean up for accuracy.

See AP reporting below:

MIAMI, Florida (AP) -- Yahweh Ben Yahweh, a former cult leader linked to nearly two dozen gruesome killings in the 1980s, is seeking immediate release from parole supervision because he has advanced cancer and wants to "die with dignity," his lawyers said Friday.

Yahweh, 70, is asking U.S. District Judge Marcia Cooke to order the federal Parole Commission to make a quick decision on whether to terminate parole in his case. He lives in the Miami area.

"He is not a risk of flight. He is not a danger to the community. He is frail and he is dying," his attorney Jayne Weintraub said. "It's time for the bars to be removed."

Yahweh can no longer walk because of bone and nerve damage from the cancer, according to his doctor. "His prognosis is extremely poor and death appears imminent," Dr. Wynne A. Steinsnyder wrote in a September 28 letter filed with the court.

Yahweh, a self-proclaimed "Black Messiah," served 11 years of an 18-year federal prison sentence for a racketeering conviction stemming from his role in up to 23 murders, some involving beheadings and severed ears and fingers.

He was born Hulon Mitchell Jr. in Oklahoma but changed his name to the Hebrew words for "God, son of God." His Nation of Yahweh boasted hundreds of followers who often dressed all in white. 16:09, 7 October 2006 User:208.54.94.1

The Cleveland Plain Dealer says that she's this guy's sister. Is that true or worth a mention?--T. Anthony 00:49, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

it should be mentioned that he has a sister

It appears to be true and I added it. I hope it isn't awkward for her, but if it were it would be something she's likely dealt with for a long time.--T. Anthony (talk) 13:41, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

poorly written page.[edit]

During the stories of him ordering the deatrhs of a martial artist, The author mentioned several people that weren't priviously mentioned. So who is mithcell, gaines or dupree? I assume foot soldiers but still. poorly written. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.79.202.26 (talk) 01:42, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

his name[edit]

I've seen TV programs where his name is mentioned. I can't tell precisely what they are saying, but it sounds like there is a variation of his name that has more than just "ben" in between the two "Yahweh" parts. If this is case, the "alternate" name (or alternate pronunciation) should probably be put into the article. I don't know much about this religion but if I understand it right, it could be his son's name. I'm not sure either way. Can anyone clarify this for me?--Rockfang (talk) 13:02, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yaweh ben Yaweh is Hebrew for God son of God. YHWH (Hebrew is written without vowels) is the name of God in the book of Exodus. No real Jew would call himself by that name. YHWH is considered the most sacred, most holy name for God so much so the Jews never pronounced it out loud to avoid taking God's name in vain. And their scribes when making copies of the scrolls went through elaborate "cleansing" rituals every time they copied down the name. 40.131.138.126 (talk) 19:27, 5 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Article sorely needs to explain the why he chose himself the name "Yahweh ben Yahweh"[edit]

...and also the give the etymology of the aforesaid "Yahweh ben Yahweh" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.151.117.210 (talk) 20:43, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Zebra Killers[edit]

This group of black racists received the name "zebra killer" because they murdered white people. They kept a point system for the people that they murdered. I.E. women, children etc. were are given different point values. They also believed Richmond California was a "holy city" tied specifically to a black Muslim group residing in Richmond. 2600:1700:3810:2370:F0E6:2774:696F:9FB9 (talk) 17:18, 11 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
