arcade-history.com lists the game as released in dec. 1982 in Japan.
arcade-museum.com also says 1982.
The japanese flyer and in-game copyright says 1982.

How to pronounce the title?[edit]

Is it pronounced "ecks-eh-vus", or "zee-vee-us"? Either way I think it could be argued that the pronunciation should appear in the article. ekedolphin 08:36, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It would be worth describing if only there were something to base it on. I call it "zee-vee-us", but who's to say what's correct? It's a made-up name, so presumably whoever made up the name gets to decide. In Japanese it's clearly ゼビウス　("zebiusu"), but if "devious" is pronounced "dee-vee-us" in English then "zee-vee-us" seems reasonable. Many players of Xevious have never suspected there are invisible underground targets, several on many levels, that can only be found by direct hits with the blaster. @Indrian: @Namcokid47: I took a quick glance review, and I do have concerns. I'm not sure an Amazon page is considered a reliable source for Xevious VHS. In addition, the development section for the first paragraph doesn't explicitly state that the game they're working on is Xevious itself, so that needs to be clarified. I'm not sure if it's necessary to keep information on Endo developer on when he was hired, but the development section doesn't inform on what his role was for developing the game. The infobox says designer but the infobox should reflect what's on the article. Sales information should be in the Reception section, Release dates and ports should be kept in the Release section. A few things that drew my attention. I'm not sure if critical acclaim is the right choice considering how few reviews there are of the game. Narusawa reference seems a little sparse, is that a book or is it a reference to another citation in the article? Honestly that whole section should be bulked up with information, I didn't do a good job with that. I found a few print-based sources from around the game's original release which should help justify the "critical acclaim" the second paragraph says. Music Credits[edit]

There are credits in the game's ROM file of the NES version. How are credits from the game not considered a reliable source?

I personally don't know if its even relevant to give composer credits of a port unless there's external coverage citing why the sound of the original and the port are different. Exactly. Not to mention that the composer isn't even mentioned in the game through a credit screen or anything, she's credited in the ROM file as a hidden easter egg. I fail to see how AtariProtos is reliable. From a cursory glance it just appears to be a fan site dedicated to prototype games, which is already a red flag. Plus the Kotaku article that talks about the cancelled 2600 version also mentions the 5200 version, so the AtariProtos source is even more pointless in that regard.
