The article Woolverstone Hall was intended to be about a Suffolk, UK, building or structure and some of the present content is not appropriate to that valid purpose.

I looked for the item from my interest in the London County Council's Woolverstone Hall School which was located there in 1951 (in continuity with the former London Nautical School) and discontinued in 1989 before becoming the campus of Ipswich High School in 1992.

I propose transferring inappropriate content about Old Boys, etc, to the article Woolverstone Hall School under convenient section heads, eg, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and creating other sections for masters, competitive sports, etc.

In the event that there are other interested parties, I am leaving this for discussion at present. I intend to return and make changes later in 2007. Aeronian 05:58, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have correspondence from two OBs, DH and BB which correctly establish that the term 'Woolverstone Hall Grammar Boarding School for Boys' was applied to the former LNS in 1950. Another old friend, RG, was part of the same intake. However, the title 'Woolverstone Hall School' was used in 1951 when that intake became the second form. The link with LNS (and training for the Artificers' Apprentices or "Tiffy" exams) was terminated except for some of a score or more students who became the third and fourth forms of the new school.--Aeronian 06:27, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

DH has now found documentary proof (viz, his December 1950 school report) that the name Woolverstone Hall School had been adopted in late 1950. Both he and BB maintain that the 'Grammar' version was definitely in use earlier, both in paperwork presented to their parents and in a nameplate on the school gate. (In the UK, the school year began in mid-September and it was then, on arrival in the bus, that they would have noticed the gate sign.)--Aeronian 14:50, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Inappropriate detail[edit]

Since there is a separate article on Woolverstone Hall School, I have removed what I see as inappropriate and irrelevant details from this article, including citations from the book My Life with George: What I Learned about Joy from One Neurotic (and Very Expensive) Dog. Use had been made of purported citations from this book to move the establishment of the boys' school from the 1950s to the 1960s—a misleading abuse.
