Merging or Deleting "Former Athletic Facilities" with "Athletic Facilities"[edit]

Should we merge, keep the same, or delete the "Former Athletic Facilities" with "Athletic Facilities"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bkellar (talkcontribs) 18:35, 23 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Athletic facilities should be confined to the article on the high school. And there, only the current facilities should be mentioned, unless there is some major significance to the former ones. In this case, it looks like nothing of note, so perhaps the fact a new gym was built and the previous gym has become the auxiliary gym can be mentioned in the history section, but that's about it. This article could benefit from a history section too, especially with new buildings being built and other changes happening, along with how and when the district was even formed.
Also, external links should not be placed in the article text. If a reader wants to visit the website of a specific school, they can easily access them through the district's website, which is linked in two places already. --JonRidinger (talk) 00:11, 24 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

May 8th Emergency Operating Levy?[edit]

On May 8, the WLSD will have an emergency operating levy on the ballot, I feel we should have an unbiased person write information about this. Does anyone agree? I can do it, but I'm a student at the school so I would need someone to proofread it for biased things.Bkellar (talk) 15:04, 30 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, including that here would be inappropriate. Be sure to read WP:NOTNEWS: "While news coverage can be useful source material for encyclopedic topics, most newsworthy events do not qualify for inclusion. For example, routine news reporting on things like announcements, sports, or celebrities is not a sufficient basis for inclusion in the encyclopedia. While including information on recent developments is sometimes appropriate, breaking news should not be emphasized or otherwise treated differently from other information." The purpose of a Wikipedia article is to provide a general, yet thorough, overview of the district, not a detailed account of everything that happens there. A levy would only need to be mentioned in a history section after its passage or failure, and only if the effects resulted in some kind of major development for the district, like consolidation, an addition to a building or buildings, or closure of a school. School levies are fairly routine, even emergency levies. Having a section on the upcoming levy would also violate WP:PROMOTION. --JonRidinger (talk) 15:34, 30 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, thank you, I wasn't sure but I thought not. Bkellar (talk) 02:53, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
