Hi Megalibrarygirl, i just browsed this draft article after for some reason checking your recent contributions (i think i saw your username on a Women in Red page where i was suggesting an article for Colorado first first lady Eliza Routt, which in fact already existed). In the current draft it is stated:
Emma Smith DeVoe and her husband, John, founded the South Dakota Equal Suffrage Association (SDESA) on October 21, 1890.[1][2] Emma DeVoe helped create chapters around the state before she and her husband moved.[1]
This begs the question why was organizing seeming to start so late, in October 1890, before a November 1890 referendum required by the constitution. In the two sources at the end of the sentence, I don't happen to see the October 21, 1890 date supported. It wasn't 1889, instead, I wonder? Or supported in a different source?
