We are the World, Haiti, Grammies

From what Kiss 107.1 FMCincinnati and Lionel Richie report, Lionel plans to get as many artist at the Grammy Awards he can to sing We are the World for Haiti. Yami (talk) 21:26, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

I have added the info with multiple sources. Yami (talk) 22:10, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
Is there a thought that the remake deserves its own page? Depending on the response and how it does, we might want to consider a separate page down the line. Ducold (talk) 04:05, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
I agree with Ducold. I think that do to the recent (and needed) expansion on the remake of the single, it should be separated into it's own article, but should be mention on the We Are The World articles page. Crystal Clear x3 [talk] 04:44, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Prince and Paris are going to sing on "We Are The World". Michael Jackson would have been proud of them. If Michael Jackson was still alive he would have come out of retirement to do the 2010 version of "We Are The World". For proof y'all can look it up online. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.68.211.187 (talk) 04:52, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
You need a reliable source to add it to the article. From all the press releases pertaining to the list of musicians involved in the remake I haven't seen any mention his kids having any involvement. Crystal Clear x3 [talk] 05:01, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Criticism of the 25 for Haiti

When they unlock the article someone should mention the heavy criticism of the 25 for haiti remake for its perceived overall "fake-ness", its corporate sponsorship, and the perception that instead of being just a way to get money to the Haitian people, it also "effectively functions as a glorified commercial" for its large corporate sponsors and the music industry. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 169.233.40.130 (talk) 01:42, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

La Toya

I'd do it but the page is locked. Can we have a non-breaking space in her name? It's odd to see La
Toya, after all. 71.127.3.139 (talk) 01:06, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

 Done. Pyrrhus16 01:20, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

Lady Gaga Participation Missing

Lady Gaga was there with her producer Red One and participated in the recording, but someone has forgotten to add her name. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MoovieStarz (talkcontribs) 23:40, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

There is no mention of her inclusion on the website here --98.149.214.120 (talk) 01:21, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

More on Prince

I once saw an article that had a photo of part of the presumedly original sheet music or a copy of it, and Huey Lewis' lyric was labeled "Prince". Anybody ever hear about that? I'm hoping to find a reliable source sometime. Mapsax (talk) 21:05, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

Children of the World Project

[1][2] From the website of the creator, Sonny_Melendrez; produced by George Duke; purported 28th Grammy Awards nominee.

Any place in the article where this can go? Mapsax (talk) 22:49, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

Length of song on the single

The length of the song on the 7" single is 6:22. Whether for radio or due to restrictions of the format, can this be listed in the infobox? Thanks. --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 01:15, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

Split off We Are The World 25 for Haiti

I recommend a WP:SPINOUT as We Are The World 25 for Haiti and its associated foundation, the We Are The World Foundation, are as much an event and entity as the song itself. If there are no objections by a week after 02:29, 14 February 2010 (UTC), would the first editor who sees this make the split? I ask because I don't know if I'll be editing next weekend, and I'd like to give it at least a week for discussion. Of course, if we have WP:SNOW approval to split, then by all means split sooner. Thanks. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 02:29, 14 February 2010 (UTC) Postponing until after March 7 - see below davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 20:43, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

I can see what your saying; the new song is notable in its own right and this page is around 80,000 bytes. The only thing is, I'm going to be putting a request in for this to be featured on the mainpage for March 7 - the 25th anniversary of the original release. Would it be best to leave it until after then? In the past few hours, the article has received over 240,000 views. If we chop the article in half now, it might jar the people who have seen or are expecting to see lots of information regarding the new version. Also, if we leave it as it is, it may promote the new charity single, which in this case is a good thing because it benefits the Haitian people. I'll ask for more input when I make the request. Pyrrhus16 02:54, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
Concur. I suggested at the beginning that there might be enough to warrant a separate article at some point and now there seems to be. As Pyrrhus pointed out though, the question is when to do it. Of course, we can put a small paragraph and link to the new page in the original and people can easily follow that. Ducold (talk) 03:03, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
And also, if we split it, it would mean that two different articles would be get vandalism and traffic. The original for being TFA, and the new one for being a recently released recording by love/hate figures such as Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus and The Jonas Brothers. I think it would be best if we could confine it to one page in that regard as well. Pyrrhus16 03:34, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
I'm good with postponing this until after there are no pending or soon-to-be-pending Today's Featured Article requests. Tentative split date - a few days after March 7.
I would like to leave this discussion open for a full week, but the split-banner will need to come down -or- you'll have to tell them it will come down on Feb. 20 before the TFAR request will be taken seriously. TFAs need to be stable. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 03:57, 14 February 2010 (UTC) corrected davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 20:43, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
I agree about splitting it, but yes we should postpone it for now. The song is getting a lot of publicity at the moment, so why doesn't the publicity calm down a bit, then the split can commence? Ninjinian (talk) 17:16, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
Definitely think this should be split, already reached the number one spot on several charts, including iTunes, which itself is enough to justify the single and the movement it's own article. We need to split this prior to the TFA as it's going to continue to get publicity, and more updates; otherwise it will be a train wreck. Coffee // have a cup // ark // 23:12, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
I'm starting to think we should split it before then too. Otherwise people might start trying to split the thing while it is on the main page, and that would cause a bigger headache. Yes, I'll split it just now and create a small section discussing the Haiti version in the main WATW article. Pyrrhus16 23:27, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
