The name Vim

"The name of the brand was probably chosen as a reference to the colloquial noun vim, meaning force, energy, vigor." I heard the name Vim is an abbrevation of one of the chemicals used in Vim, I believe it was vinyl imide malonic adic. Does anyone have more info on this? -- Sander 20:26, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

CIF and VIM comment

CIF and VIM are not the same.

Hey Baba Reebub se ding is Vim

Since the time of my earliest memories (1952), the song "Hey Baba Reebub" has been a traditional song in Cape Town. One of the lines is "Hey Baba Reebub se ding is Vim". One might be up all night arguing about translations from Afrikaans but we can perhaps settle for "Hey, Father Reebub's thing is Vim". I have spent much time troubling Google in the hope of finding further explanation but have come up with nothing illuminating. Vim was certainly a stock item in most kitchens in Cape Town in the fifties and sixties. Those with more advanced IT skills may able to find out more....
