Name[edit]

I think the English name should be used - 'Villa of the Quintilii' as it is by far the most common English usage, and this is the English wikipedia. BodvarBjarki (talk) 03:06, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What is "just outside the traditional boundaries of Rome" supposed to mean?[edit]

The article states the villa is "just outside the traditional boundaries of Rome". It is not clear what the traditional boundaries referred to are, however, and whatever they are taken to be, the expression doesn't seem particularly accurate. After all, the villa is 5 miles along the Via Appia from the Servian walls, and, what, 3 miles or so from the Aurelian walls; "just outside" seems appropriate for neither distance, by the standards of the "traditional" (i.e., historic) size of the city. The villa is also within the city of Rome at present day. Why not just say "in Rome"? Or perhaps state the relative location more extensively and accurate (so far outside the Aurelian walls, so far inside the ring road, for instance), although it seems superfluous given that the coordinates and map link are present in the article.
