Upon removing the CROHO link[edit]

Why did Crusio remove the link to the CROHO register? The CROHO register is the official list of all recognized higher education curricula from the Netherlands. This is why the link was there in the first place. There is nothing more official in this respect than the CROHO register, all press reports about accreditation are second-hand information, while the CROHO register is first-hand information. The reasons I just removed that link again are simple: first, following WP:MOS (and WP:EL), one should not link to search engine results. Second, you didn't even do that, but just link to a search engine. If one clicks the link you provided, all one gets is a page that has hardly any content at all and does not mention anything that even remotely has something to do with this article. --Crusio (talk) 19:54, 11 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure. You probably could use it to source that an institution is included. However, to see whether an institutions is not included, one has to browse through the whole list and that probably constitutes OR, which is not allowed. Do you perhaps have another reference that says that this institution is not "recognized"? Hi, the difference between accredited and recognized: Dutch universities and HBOs are accredited by the Dutch-Flemish Accreditation Organization (NVAO), more precisely their curricula get accredited by NVAO; this is what the Dutch law means by accreditation, i.e. accreditation by NVAO. After they get accredited, the Dutch Department of Education examines the accredited curricula, deciding whether they are effective and efficient enough, and if this is so, recognition is granted. Only recognized curricula receive government funding, and only students enlisted to recognized curricula are entitled to study financing by the DUO (IB Groep), a sub-department of the Dutch Department of Education. Universities and high-schools are free to have other curricula than the recognized curricula, but the not recognized curricula are not financially supported by the state (universities and HBOs receive money from the state for every student enlisted in a recognized curriculum) and it is impossible to put an apostille upon a diploma received from a not recognized curriculum, since such a diploma is not recognized by the Dutch state. About the removal of some claims[edit]

User:Arnoutf has edited the article because "(post graduate is recognised other grades not (so these claims are void))". Even if I agree that they are not recognized/accredited, this is something for the Dutch Parliament to worry about, i.e. worry about protecting the Bachelor, Master and doctor (dr.) degrees, as the Secretary of Education wished. She noticed that granting such titles is possible for every organization calling itself an university. So, this is not an Wikipedia problem, it is a legal problem.
