Is it not the same article as Sacristy ? I don't know what is the best way to merge or to link both articles. M.Dubois

aside from the important derived meanings of the word vestry detailed in the article (where sacristy would be a misnomer) I think the word sacristy is now used by just one denomination in particular for the purposes described in the sacristy article. Membership[edit]

Split article[edit]

The vestry committee was a major part of local government for several centuries and it is not appropriate to have it as a heading in an article which starts with the vestry room. Suggest splitting vestry and vestry committee Dougsim (talk) 06:40, 1 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Heavily CoE/UK centric[edit]

With only passing mention of the modern (substantial) meaning and operational definition of vestry in various other denominations, this article needs expanding to reflect the evolution of the vestry from the original English model to include its successor organs in disparate denominations and nations.
