Neutrality concerns[edit]

I feel like Veronika Scott wrote this herself. or her people. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:3bd8:5e30:ec6c:68fa:1ce8:c62f (talkcontribs)

Yes, that is obviously the case. The creator and main editor of this article was very honest about it, since she used her real name. Since Wikipedia is a collaborative effort, everyone is invited to participate, so it doesn't have to stay that way. Normally, people at Wikipedia are very critical about such a conflict of interest, and striving for the Neutral point of view is one of out pillars. But in this case, there's not much interest in making it more neutral. We're all volunteers ourselves, we ought to be forgiven for having a weakness for what she did.
That said, our system of checks and balances has also been gamed when User:Delcydrew, who has a vested interest in promoting business by a board member of the Empowerment Plan, and who has not shown any sign of following User:Ronz's advice to read WP:COI, removed the {{Unreviewed}} maintenance tag, which I'm now reinserting so that the process can go its intended way. — Sebastian 15:31, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I took a stab at it. Needs a great deal of work. At risk of deletion, but that should be easily fixed. --Ronz (talk) 16:36, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Ronz! It's good that you're looking at it with a critical eye. However, there is no risk of deletion, though, given that she got plenty of coverage in well-known media, such as CNN, NPR, The San Francisco Chronicle, The New York Times, Forbes &c. — Sebastian 19:03, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, one reason why this article might get deleted is because of the huge overlap with the article Empowerment Plan. I'll write about that under a separate headline below, as that is not a neutrality concern. — Sebastian 19:36, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This was copied from this version of the article. Looks like there may be some WP:BIO sources here, as well as secondary sources that meet WP:BLP criteria. I didn't copy the "Appearances" section, assuming that those links would be far poorer or redundant, but it might be worth looking over them as well. --Ronz (talk) 16:39, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, Ronz, for your thorough reporting of what you did. These should provide excellent material for expanding the article. Some of what they write is already in the article and not referenced; I will begin putting those in the appropriate locations. — Sebastian 19:03, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I entered the best in the Empowerment Plan article. Unfortunately, though, most links are not accessible anymore. — Sebastian 22:28, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Overlap with Empowerment Plan[edit]

As I'm looking through the references per my message below, I realize that there is a huge overlap between this article and Empowerment Plan, and it's not easy to decide which bit of information should go where. It would be easier if the two articles were merged, but I don't feel strong enough that they should. I'm just mentioning it to raise it as an issue that we need to deal with. As for me, aas I am working on adding some of the references from the previous section, I will mostly not add them to this article, but to Empowerment Plan. — Sebastian 19:50, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If there are no sources that demonstrate notability of one without the other, than a merge would be a good idea. --Ronz (talk) 20:11, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
From below, http://www.npr.org/2010/12/13/131910671/to-warm-the-homeless-a-coat-that-s-a-sleeping-bag is about her and he coat without mention of the organization. --Ronz (talk) 20:14, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I even remember seeing other projects of hers mentioned somewhere, so it may well be that the connection will be further loosened. Of course, Wikipedia is not a crystal ball, so it would be too soon to include any of that just yet. — Sebastian 22:25, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
