– These are protected areas in Estonia. The same rationale as previously in Talk:Verijärv Landscape Conservation Area#Requested move 30 March 2021. Protected areas are created to protect natural objects that they encompass, and hence are presumably named after these natural objects. So protected area name in English should use nominative form of natural object names, unlike Estonian-language protected area names that need genitive form. In a few cases there's also a village name (e.g. "Emumäe"), where nominative and genitive are the same, but presumably protected area is still named after the natural object (in this case nominative "Emumägi"). Respectively, natural objects within these protected areas are: Vaskjõgi (river), Salajõgi (river), Maruorg (valley), Pühamets (forest stand), Tilleorg (valley), Saarjõgi (river), Saarjärv (lake), Papiorg (valley), Padaorg (valley), Naissaar (island), Kübassaar (peninsula, former island), Kuulmajärv (lake), Kisejärv (lake), Kesselaid (island), Pikkjärv (lake), Kanahaud (depression), Emumägi (hill), Erumägi (hill), Valgejärv (lake), Varesemäed (hill group), Karijärv (lake), Viidumägi (hill). 2001:7D0:81F7:B580:94CF:C9:A2B9:FEC5 (talk) 14:52, 22 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have created a few of these articles; I don't speak Estonian and so in the articles I created I used reliable English language sources for the names, like the Estonian Environmental Board and a few others. Off the cuff I'm not sure what Wikipedia recommends in such cases, but I think it should be taken into account if there's an established English name outside Wikipedia. This apparently concerns two last articles that I listed (Keeri-Karijärve..., Viidumäe...). For the rest of the listed articles that were recently created there are barely any mentions of their English-language names on the internet and so probably no established names exist in English.
In case of suggested "Viidumägi Nature Reserve" there are a few mentions as well and so I doubt we can really say that it has established English name. Though, I realise two last articles in above list may need to be discussed separately and so I'm withdrawing these from this request. 2001:7D0:81F7:B580:4D51:2429:53A1:39DD (talk) 07:33, 23 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Just to reply, I have absolutely no strong opinions about the naming, I just thought I'd bring your attention to the above fact. Whatever the outcome it would be good if it was consistent with how Estonian place names are rendered in English more generally, no? And that there is a consistency within Wikipedia. It's good that you brought up the issue. Kind regards, Yakikaki (talk) 08:09, 23 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
