Hello-

I believe VIP Parts Tires and Service page should not be deleted for a variety of reasons.

1. It is a notable organization and has received coverage in such news organizations as Reuters and Maine Morning Sentinel as well as numerous auto specific organizations such as Autopedia and Motor Age. VIP is also listed in Hoover's - a named Wikipedia notable source.

2. VIP falls into the following Wikipedia categories: Organizations based in the United States | Automotive part retailers of the United States | Business organizations |

3. VIP is historically significant being one of the largest privately owned automotive chains in New England.

4. VIP is the recipient of the 2008 Polk Award presented by RL POLK - a Wikipedia subject. News services such as Reuter's reported the award.

5. VIP is a sponsor of Ricky Craven, the subject of a Wikipedia article.

6. Each paragraph of the VIP article carries a citation and sources are referenced in the Reference section.

This is my first Wikipedia article and I will keep working on this. I have not as yet publicly listed the Wikipedia categories VIP falls into.

The request for speedy deletion wasn't based on notability or references, but on the fact that it is written like an advertisement and would require a fundamental rewrite to become an encyclopedic article. If you could rewrite the articles so that it was written like an encyclopedic article instead of an advertisement, it would probably be okay. --Philosopher Let us reason together. 19:27, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for letting me know that. I read the articles on NAPA and Pep Boys and tried to emulate them. How do I proceed from here? I would be happy to rework the article. Hmvont (talk) 19:54, 9 September 2008 (UTC) Hmvont[reply]

I have revamped the article and deleted anything remotely smacking of advertisement ;-) How does this look? Again - thanks for the help. Hmvont (talk) 20:45, 9 September 2008 (UTC)Hmvont[reply]

It looks much better now. Unfortunately I can't really give much advice for expanding the article except to suggest you find well-developed articles about other privately-owned companies and emulate them. --Philosopher Let us reason together. 22:57, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again. I notice the article is flagged as having no citations. I cited each paragraph and have 5 different sources - any thoughts as to how to get rid of that? Hmvont (talk) 23:34, 9 September 2008 (UTC)Hmvont[reply]

It was the {{Unreferenced}} template - I removed it. --Philosopher Let us reason together. 19:12, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Company Name Change[edit]

Hello, in 2013 the company's name was officially changed to VIP Tires & Service when they sold their parts business to O'Reilly's Auto Parts. I don't know how to change the page title - can someone help? Thank you. Cchassie (talk) 16:40, 18 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
