While some UW schools use the hyphen, UW Oshkosh does not. Indie_Film (talk) 10:40, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

Damon Schneider

I do not want to start an edit war, but someone with a Minnesota IP address keeps added Mr. Schneider to the list of notable alumni. While I think it's admirable that Mr. Schneider teaches at a two year school in the UW system, this doesn't qualify him for listing as a "notable" alumni at any school. And the editor continues to list him as an "independent filmmaker" as well, but Mr. Schneider does not have a single credit on IMDb, nor does a Google search give much more information than his faculty page at UW-Waukesha.

While Mr Schneider may be notable someday, for now this seems like quasi-advertising. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.166.159.168 (talk) 19:34, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

Since writing the above note, it is apparent that some sort of advertising, self promotion or other effort is being undertaken to add Damon Schneider to the list of notable alumni. The user with the IP address 66.41.76.202 has re-added Mr. Schneider twice during that time and tried to get rid of the above note at almost the same time as the second edit to the main article. I don't want to guess people's motives too much, but this seems an obvious attempt to cover-up what has gone from advertising into vandalism territory. More recently, Mr. Schiender was re-added again, this time by a different IP, but in the same fashion 66.41.76.202 has been doing it. Is there any recourse for this? Do we just continue to undo edits? It is clear that whomever is doing this wants an edit war of some sort. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.218.95.163 (talk) 22:17, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

There certainly is recourse, just talk with me. I'm a regular Wikipedia contributor who happens to be watching the page (I'm an alumni who built much of the article) and I'm also an administrator. I will block access to the article if it gets real bad - but that it isn't the case right now. To the other anonymous contributor: You need to create a Wikipedia article that stays for him before you can include him in the list. Otherwise we are just going to keep removing because you haven't proven that Mr. Schneider is notable enough to have an article. Right now, it appears to be vanity editing to the trained eye. Our patience does have a finite limit. Royalbroil 02:26, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Uwotitan.jpg

Image:Uwotitan.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
