Untitled[edit]

I wrote the article with the sources in Japanese. Please add information with English/US military sources.--Mochi 02:22, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article renamed[edit]

I've renamed this article from Government of the Ryukyu Islands to Government of the Ryūkyū Islands in accordance with the guidelines in the Manual of Style for Japanese articles. Bobo12345 11:56, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article name[edit]

United States Civil Administration of the Ryukyu Islands is a part of Ryukyu administration controled by the US. Government of the Ryukyu Islands is another part of Ryukyu administration organied by the locals. So we should change the article name to "Administration of Ryukyu by the US", or something. Japanese term for "琉球政府 (Government of the Ryukyu Islands)" often include whole the administration both by the US and the locals.--Mochi (talk) 13:24, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. The USCAR was just a government organ. We need a main article that corresponds to ja:アメリカ合衆国による沖縄統治. I suggest United States occupation of Okinawa. We also need an article for the Government of the Ryukyu Islands (this currently redirects here), the puppet government under the USCAR. --Nanshu (talk) 05:08, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Roles of officials[edit]

What were the roles of the high commissioner, chief executive, and civil administrator?ZFT (talk) 21:34, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

1950-1972[edit]

  • USCAR was from 1950–1972, not 1952–1972 as the article originally stated. Sources: [1] [2] [3] Bueller 007 (talk) 08:59, 25 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • There is a huge amount of unsourced info in this article that disagrees with what Japanese Wikipedia has to say. Changing some blatant examples, but this whole article really needs a do-over. Bueller 007 (talk) 10:25, 25 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • I removed this unreferenced supposed list of deputy governors from the main page. It is not the same as the list of Japanese Wikipedia.
  • Lieutenant General Thomas F. Hickey
  • Major General Samuel T. Williams
  • Major General Armistead D. Mead
  • Lieutenant General Thomas F. Hickey
  • Major General Edward J. McGaw
  • Lieutenant General James Edward Moore
  • I also removed this unreferenced supposed list of civil administrators from the main page.

琉球政府[edit]

There has evidently been some fundamental confusion in creating this article about the difference between 琉球政府 and USCAR. They are two different bodies. Separating as best as possible. Bueller 007 (talk) 10:59, 25 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
