Some Comments[edit]

This is fake university — Preceding unsigned comment added by 197.242.214.113 (talk) 18:53, 26 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The UN University is the only UN academic body. It offers masters and PHd's please see http://unu.edu/admissions/study#overview

Also UN University is a UN organization and is the sole degree granting entity of the UN. Upeace is a treaty organization endorsed by the UN. It is not a UN entity — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.35.2.106 (talk) 18:43, 22 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

We should clarify that they offer degrees. I thought they were a research-only institution, but apparently they offer at least some postgraduate degrees - http://isp.unu.edu/grad/degrees/index.html

Also it would be useful to compare UNU with the University for Peace, which was also established by the UN, but as I understand has a looser institutional connection to the UN than UNU does. 60.225.114.230 (talk) 11:23, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Is that topic notable?[edit]

The article currently has little if anything in the way of WP:SIGCOV. A quick search of online newspapers for notability-proving stuff only turns out two NYT sources ([1], [2]) close to the opening of the UNU, the rest of the hits are quotes by UNU professors and the like. Does this really satisfy notability criteria? TigraanClick here to contact me 17:02, 16 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I think the institution is notable – it has a lot of money and people and taxpayers pay for it, so we need documentation. The article could be made more notable by discussing some of this, what the role of a university as "think tank" means, why this is established at the UN level, whether such global status is useful or necessary. But of course that kind of work can't be done in Wikipedia, we have to hope someone has done it academically or journalistically and we could report on it here. 2003:CD:EF0E:19EC:C904:F162:4ED4:130C (talk) 06:47, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
