Disputed world record holding[edit]

Tunde Onakoya's event from April has not been recorded in the Official Guiness Records.

Existing sources [1] from the current version of the page mention that the record is subject to confirmation. Another source for pending confirmation [2] stated, "Guinness is yet to comment publicly or confirm the record, a process that is said to take weeks, but the chess marathon was streamed live and drew considerable attention from major media outlets such as CNN, the New York Times, the BBC, and AP."

Following this reasoning, the statement "Tunde Onakoya (born 6 October 1994) is a Nigerian chess player and coach, who holds the Guinness World Records for the longest marathon chess game" would be factually inaccurate. Stvident (talk) 00:20, 5 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
