Seems to be a poorly written article from a singular view[edit]

This page seems to present a single, rather slanted view of the subject of "transphobia" and its presence in the US. The Westboro Baptist Church (a known extremist religious group), are used as a representative example of transphobia - while in reality, many mainstream views may be considered "transphobic", based on many definitions of transphobic. Perhaps we can use representative views, examples, descriptions, etc. on this page rather than cherrypicking the most extreme cases. 128.253.57.28 (talk) 23:40, 24 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

What exactly are you asking for here? Less extreme representations of transphobia? Ijustlikeproperspelling (talk) 06:20, 16 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There's a difference between facts and transphobia. Most of the things called transphobia is just stating basic biological facts 197.186.28.129 (talk) 12:35, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
What facts would those be? Lados75 (talk) 16:32, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, I think the context that many of the concerns cited in the "Anti-trans attitudes" are based in misinformation is an important fact to a non-biased presentation of this controversial topic.
"Anti-trans attitudes" section (should relabeled "Anti-trans claims"), sentence 1 cites a sociological concept; however, there is insufficient data to justify the claim, relying on the effect to justify the cause. Sentence 3, "'irreversible medical treatments' without proper safeguards" is a claim that contradicts AMA policy (https://www.ama-assn.org/press-center/press-releases/ama-states-stop-interfering-health-care-transgender-children), insurance policy (https://www.ama-assn.org/system/files/2019-03/transgender-coverage-issue-brief.pdf), and established medical ethics in the US (https://publications.aap.org/pediatrics/article-abstract/142/6/e20181537/37504/Ethical-Issues-in-Gender-Affirming-Care-for-Youth?redirectedFrom=fulltext). I'm not suggesting these claims should be removed; however, its important to provide context to inform readers that the overwhelming majority of medical interventions in early teens are reversible (https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/usa-transyouth-data/) and require a lengthy process (https://transhealthproject.org/trans-health-insurance-tutorial/understanding-your-plan/pdf) involving parents, doctors, and therapists (and courts in the cases of state wards). It would also seem appropriate, that even if these claims were true and we only have an effect to measure a cause, that "1% on average expressed regret" would seem an important context - https://apnews.com/article/transgender-treatment-regret-detransition-371e927ec6e7a24cd9c77b5371c6ba2b
In paragraph two of the same section, "Some people also feel that transgender soldiers are a threat to military readiness" should include the context there's no data to support this claim, "there's no evidence those militaries suffered any problems or setbacks" - https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/transgender-individuals-may-now-openly-join-the-u-s-military 84.239.7.12 (talk) 04:08, 26 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
