Untitled[edit]

"In theory, the trail is equipped with regularly spaced pavilions which provide shelter as well as fresh water to travellers, but this varies widely from section to section, and particularly from province to province."

There are many pavilions across the country, and the fact that it varies should not be of interest. ... perhaps the fact that each province dedicates a different amount of funding for trail development & maintenance should be noted. Infrastructure[edit]

I am in the process of completing a basic infrastructure as the trail crosses Canada starting on Newfoundland. I am only including basic River and Road Crossings and communities. This section will probably be separated as it is expanded similar to Trans Canada Highway Description, maybe separated by either province or individual trails.13:12, 22 June 2014 (UTC)

Change of Name[edit]

If anyone has information about the change from "Trans Canada Trail" to buy "The Great Trail," it should be added. I haven't found and explanation. Ab.chaplin (talk) 13:08, 8 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

From what I can find the new name is a 2016 marketing gimmick. The organization remains the Trans Canada Trail, almost all the signs still say Trans Canada Trail and most people still call it the Trans Canada Trail. The article name should remain Trans Canada Trail until the Great Trail name actually catches on.Dan Conlin (talk) 19:21, 14 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Note on Trail Conditions in BC Mountains[edit]

Users of the trail circa 2022 should be warned that mountainous parts are remote, dangerous, washed out, unsigned, cross deep creeks and rivers and at times have no bridges. Further, major washouts occurred at Coquihalla Summit, Othello, and Princeton areas and are presently closed as of 2022. The Pale Face Pass summit near Chilliwack Lake is steep, overgrown, rough surface and remote. The ascent from Hope to Coquihalla Pass is very confusing and breaks from park, to rural road, to freeway, to pipeline service road leads to dead ends. Wild animals including bears can be expected. There are logs on trail, large rocks, very rocky and washboard running surface and steep inclines to push bikes up and down. Be cautious, be prepared and mind the weather as it can be rainy and the passes have snow until mid June. As I explained in response to your note on my talk page, this information is unsourced and based on your personal experience, so cannot be included in this article, per WP:V. Furthermore it is written in a travel guide style and is also inappropriate for that reason. Please explain here why you believe that adding this information is consistent with Wikipedia policies.
