Did she die from complications of a face lift?[edit]

Phyllis Diller said so to Dawn French on "Girls who do Comedy". SergioGeorgini 21:20, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Answer: No I'm a relative of Totie's and she died from complications stemming from diabetes.

Ms. Diller was just joshing. I lived in Durango, Co. in the 1960s, and I recall that when the narrow gauge railroad to Silverton was going bankrupt, Ms. Fields raised money to save it. It still runs today, summer and winter. It's a fabulous visceral experience, and people don't know the effort she put into preserving it. Even more now, they have restored the Grand Imperial Hotel in Silverton to it's 1882 glory. The ride itself is awesome and awesome at each end. -Dave — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:300A:DF1:0:800F:B4EF:977F:38C5 (talk) 19:40, 30 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Language[edit]

I realize we are all trying to be polite - and it's so sweet of whoever put it in - but to use the word "zaftig" for Ms. Fields is to confuse people who do not speak a narrow range of English that includes Yiddish. Could we say "plump"? If someone has an even more polite word than "fat", I'm all for it.FlaviaR 07:38, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I know this is a very old comment, but come on. Why are articles about women so much more likely to include shallow objectification as if it is a relevant fact about a person? Was Ed Sullivan short, tall, thin, shapely, fat, sexy, beautiful, ugly, etc.? - SummerPhDv2.0 16:19, 19 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Wayne Newton[edit]

Would anyone want to discuss her feud with Wayne Newton? Her feud with him was legendary. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.244.188.131 (talk) 02:04, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Photo upload?[edit]

I'm Totie's nephew and have a picture of her I'd like to upload but can't. Can someone help explain how I do that? Thanks all. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jtc711 (talkcontribs) 20:44, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
