The original plan was that the Phoenix Roadrunners of the old IHL were purchased and were going to be moved to Toronto in the late 90's/early 2000's, before the IHL folded. They would have played in the IHL. There was a Toronto Roadrunners banner around the site that would become Ricoh Coliseum since at least 2000, which is when I first started going into Toronto on a regular basis. You could see the banner from the Gardiner Expressway.
