According to many of Braxton's albums, she's served as an executive producer on most of them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Onlyaguy (talkcontribs) 13:31, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

Singles articles

I love Toni Braxton but even I don't think that there'll be an article on each single, or if there's any info on them, they might as well be mentioned only on the album's pages. Should we have them wikified into links? :) Alensha 14:13, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Age

According to the people search website Intelius, when you type in Toni M. Braxton the results show a woman from Severn, Maryland aged 43 meaning that she was born in 1966. Here's the link: http://www.intelius.com/search-summary-out.php?ReportType=1&qf=Toni&qmi=M&qn=Braxton&qs=&trackit=74&focusfirst=1&ReportType=1 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.3.228.114 (talk) 14:38, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

According to http://www.birthdatabase.com/, if you type in "Toni Braxton," it says she was born October 7, 1966. 69.249.118.231 04:44, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

if you look at her official website and the georgia encyclopedia its 1968 . Any bonafide fan knows that —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.82.236.54 (talkcontribs)

Her official website doesn't say anything, you're referring to a fansite. Deciding on the correct year by battling "celebrity info site A" vs. "celebrity info site B" vs. "celebrity info site C" isn't very efficient. Anyway, the birthdate from People magazine is 1966[1], and they fact-check with the DMV.[2] --Fallout boy 03:09, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Yea, it's 1967 but people keep changing the date of it, I reverted one now. Jaranda wat's sup 18:34, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

since when is http://music.aol.com/artist/toni-braxton/37576/main people magazine /DMV . DMV records show various entries for toni braxton

But they used people magazine in the main profile, and I trust them that the date is 1967. Jaranda wat's sup 19:25, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

I'm not going to argue, but I've heard more sources note her birthyear as 1967. This include several profile shows, such as Lifetime's Intimate Portrait. I don't know where all this 1966/1968 stuff comes from. DtownG 18:16, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
  • She was born in 1966. Not 1967 or 1968.72.94.46.100 00:29, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Toni was born in 1967. Not 1966 or 1968. It was stated in a Sister 2 Sister article that she was 39 and the article is from September 2007. The lady that interviewed her is an old and close friend. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.119.3.63 (talk) 17:49, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

Just for future reference: IMDb currently claims 1966, while allmusic claims both 1967 and 1968. With all that confusion it's important that we explicitly point out the uncertainty, just as we currently do. Amalthea 23:54, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

According to veromi.net she is 43 years old which makes her birth year to 1966. I find that more reliable than tabloids from Taiwan.

http://www.veromi.net/Summary.asp?fn=Toni&mn=M&ln=Braxton&dobmm=&dobdd=&doby=1966&city=&state=&age=&vw=&Search=&Input=&x=0&y=0 Karbuncle (talk) 23:47, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

I have never heard of veromi. But seriously, you find a site that lists "Richmond, Gloria L (Age 88), Shukenbein, Marcia (Age 76), Bein, Joseph Arthur (Age 88), Nisenson, Ann G (Age 92)" as her "Possible Roommates / Associates" reliable? Why?
Veromi.net appears to be a site that aggregates information from the web, without supervision. In no way is this a reliable source, and it certainly doesn't discredit the dates listed by those news outlets currently in the article. However, I don't see that we can be sure, and we can't just take a guess and ignore the others, in particular if prominent sources for that kind of information that are usually right (like imdb or allmusic) can't agree on a date. Unless there's a good reason why two are wrong and one is right, we either have to list all sourced plausible ones, or none. Amalthea 01:32, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

The data from veromi.net comes from the official government. In other words, it's the same database that the government uses. If that's not reliable I don't know what is. And Imdb has agreed on a date, which is 1966 Karbuncle (talk) 16:09, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Government? Which one? Where would it say that?
I'm afraid you'Re mistaken. And why would the US government (I assume that's the one you mean) hand out information about possible employers, relatives, associates, or roommates? They'd know some of that information for sure, but would have no business publicating it.
And again, the imdb claiming one date is no more reliable than us claiming one: They do only very limited fact checking, and essentially show user generated content – they lack the "reputation for accuracy and fact-checking" we require. Amalthea 02:20, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

I don't know why they give out information about possible employers or relatives. I know though that in some occasions that information is correct and since DoB and all that stuff is public records that would explain why they hand out that information.

This is taken from Veromis help-page:

"* Where does your data come from?

We have access to billions of records that have been compiled by various public offices and agencies all across the United States. The records we collect data from include, but are not limited to: white pages information, property records, voter registration cards and much more. Our system collects data that ranges from the early 1980's to the present date and consolidates it all into one convenient and easy to read report for you."

How can you not call this reliable, especially since Veromi has been approved as a reliable reference for other actors/singers whose DoB is twisted?

I haven't said that Imdb is more reliable than any other source. It was you who said that Imdb and allmusic couldn't agree on a date and I informed you, that, yes, at least Imdb has. Karbuncle (talk) 16:39, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

What I meant was that the IMDb and Allmusic don't agree with each other.
Who has approved Veromi as a reliable reference, and where? Not here, best I can tell, to the contrary: WP:Reliable sources/Noticeboard/Archive 53#Veromi.net
Amalthea 18:01, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

Since the birth year of Martin Landau, who was in that example, was decided to 1928 which is stated on Veromi, instead of 1931 which is stated on the most pages you find in a Google search and Veromi was given as a reference in that article, I took it as it's been considerd as a reliable source. If not, it should be. The information comes from public records, which can't be wrong and the government uses the same database as Veromi. Karbuncle (talk) 02:25, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Album sales

I would like to know the album sales for Libra. Somebody has been changing it to 420,000, yet it had only sold/scanned 380,000 by February of this year. I know the album has been certified/shipped Gold for 500,000 copies by Billboard/RIAA.

Libra sold 441,000 copies in the US. http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/entertainment/midnight_sun/blog/2011/04/toni_braxtons_declining_record.html — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.43.2.96 (talk) 21:25, 4 June 2014 (UTC)

Bad article

This article doesnt even has have a discography aka summary of singles and there peaks.

If you looked at the entire article, you would see a link to Toni Braxton discography. --Musicpvm 07:19, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

Suggestion

Can I suggest merging the articles that go under the heading "Career troubles" into her biography; it removes any possible POV--17:35, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

The reformat

I'm going to go on record saying that I do *NOT* like the way this article has been reformatted with the "1.3 1993-1998: Toni Braxton, Secrets and bankruptcy," "1.4 1999-2002: The Heat and More Than a Woman," etc.,etc. It looks like a mass of words piled together. —The Real One Returns 17:30, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Suggestions?--AshadeofgreyTalk 17:42, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
You may also want to look at Mariah Carey's article, it is a featured article and hence should be used as a guideline/template for similar articles--AshadeofgreyTalk 17:33, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

I don't feel that the Mariah Carey article should be considered a template for *all* articles about recording artists. Personally, I think that the Toni Braxton article was fine the way it was...with the details of each album segmented and discussed, with her personal life, career troubles, and current status in their own sections. This current format looks horribly congested now. —The Real One Returns 23:40, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

May I ask why Mariah Carey's article is not a good template for this article?--AshadeofgreyTalk 23:44, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
May I ask why this article needs to be formatted identical to Carey's? Just because hers looks a certain way doesn't mean that they all have to follow suit. —The Real One Returns 18:56, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
I never said identical, I said to use it as a template.--AshadeofgreyTalk 19:16, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
And *I* said that *I* don't think that it's necessary to follow the pattern of the Mariah Carey article, and that THIS article now looks like a overflowing fountain of words in its attempt to mimic that design. I can just as easily name of Wikipedia articles of recording artists that do NOT follow this template, and are equally as good. I'd love to know who appointed the Carey article as some kind of gold standard. Please. This article was fine BEFORE it was reformatted. The Real One Returns 09:08, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Heart Health

Toni was on Oprah awhile ago talking about her heart condition that she was diagnosed with during her last pregnancy. She is now an advocate or something. I think this should be listed on her page as well. I didn't know her last son is ASDS. Obadiaha 01:33, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Toni was diagnosed with heart disease about six months after she had her second child. She was diagnosed during the time she was doing the broadway musical Aida. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.119.3.63 (talk) 20:21, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

Tags

There are many statements in this article that are not neutral and do not belong in a Wikipedia article. I realise that someone has fact-tagged them, which is good, but this article is full of weasel words and compromised statements. Basically, much of the article blames other people and factors for the failure of Braxton's later albums. While this may or may not be true, it's quite non-neutral. "Although that is strong for an album with little to no promotion..." is an example. I'm not saying that the article is bad; I'm just saying that it needs a lot of cleanup, especially in the specific album areas. Her earlier albums and her latest troubles seem to be good, though. SKS2K6 09:47, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

"citation needed"

putting the "citation needed" tag after every sentense is downright silly and makes the article unreadable. Somebody else agree to remove/clean up some of these notices? 62.178.193.144 23:11, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Picture

Looking on here and I've noticed that some of the celebrities such as Toni Braxton, Tina Marie, Jennifer Freeman, Tahj Mowry, etc. doesn't have a picture! Tina Marie doesn't even have a proper article and she has seniority. I just think everyone should had at least a picture to go with there pages...Its not that big of a deal but its just not fare... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lia30303 (talkcontribs) 00:10, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

The problem is that images used on Wikipedia must not bear copyright restrictions on the right to redistribute, study, modify and improve, and otherwise use the works for any purpose in any medium, even commercially (with only a very few exceptions). That means that we cannot simply take images from e.g. other web sites or printed material. All text and images used on Wikipedia must be released under an appropriate free license. We normally have to rely on volunteers taking images themselves and uploading them under a free license, or finding one that has been explicitly released under a free license by the author on e.g. Flickr.
For Toni Braxton, no such image has been uploaded or found yet. From a quick look at Flickr, the only ones available there are this one and this one, neither is appropriate for the main infobox image.
An option is always to ask the topic or their agent for a free image, explaining to them that they would benefit from a proper image on Wikipedia. Details on how they could get an image accepted would be at WP:IOWN and should be followed since, typically, such images have been published previously on the web and are assumed to be copyright violations and deleted, unless proper proof of copyright ownership is given. Plácido Domingo has done just that, for example, but it's usually hard to convince them of the benefit, since they lose control of the usages of that image.
You're not alone by the way with your dismay about lacking images on Wikipedia. This issue has even been picked up by The New York Times.
I hope that helps, if you have further questions, feel free to ask. Amalthea 10:16, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Birthdate is 1967

She was born in 1967, she said so in a new interview with VH1 and has said so a few times before in other interviews.LAUGH90 (talk) 00:36, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
No it is not, as my private investigators as well as detailed legal records say otherwise. Even through more public online background searches, all of them led back to her being age 43 on this current day. Her sister Traci Braxton is legally listed as 39 and it matches up with Traci's given birth year of 1971. Her sister Trina is listed as age 32 today(b.3/17/78). These dates on that site I provided, like the private records are not randomly input dates, they are legally given facts. My own family members' and many other celebrities' "correctly-given" birth years/ages on Intelius match up to the current day. Anyone can lie about their birthdate or year to entertainment media as many celebrities have done so in the past. If anything this mess stems from earlier on in her career when not many knew her real age by assuming 1966-1968. I stand by what I say, she will be a 44 year old by the end of 2010. If anything, hiding behind an I.P. address from what I remember is a form of sock puppetry.Carmaker1 (talk) 10:57, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
Looks like you remember wrong. IP editors are not sock-puppets. Please WP:AGF. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.194.104.173 (talk) 04:33, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

It looks like this was not resolved. There's no point ping ponging back and forward between '66 and '67 and no point arguing about it and stating "these are the facts" either. Do we have a real conflict of sources? What would have given rise to it? I would not personally assume that Braxton is lying. I think we would need some consensus here about sources. Span (talk) 23:05, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

So I take it that no-one is prepared to discuss this, that you are just engage in edit wars. Please demonstrate a little maturity and discuss the sources here. Both dates have fairly strong sources behind them. This has been going on for months. Acting like six years olds is not going to help. Span (talk) 22:22, 4 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi! I want to know the name of the first song on your first album. You were wearing a white of off white short dress with a similar Halle Berry short hair style.

Top-selling single??

Article says "second top-selling single of all time by a female artist"

This statement is not referenced and from my own research this appears to be completely false. 202.172.103.51 (talk) 13:23, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
