Openly gay + partner[edit]

"Hugo is openly gay. He married his partner, Alexander Nyborg Olsson, on 4 December 2018. The pair wrote "Spirit In The Sky" together, alongside Keiino's other members."

It's time we stopped using this "openly gay" thing. How many heterosexual's have "is openly heterosexual" on their Wiki pages? Zero. Furthermore, no pages state, "is secretly gay", because nobody knows who is secretly gay and people just assume all people are heterosexual unless the LGBT person has to come out. The term "openly gay" assumes that if a person doesn't come out, they are straight. This automatically cancels out the sexual orientation of every person not in a position to be able to speak openly about their sexuality.

As well as this, Hugo didn't marry his "partner", as no straight person has "married ... partner" on their pages. E.g. compared to a female popstar in her 40s; "Louise Nurding married football player Jamie Redknapp". Why not refer to Redknapp as her "partner"?

Using the language "openly" and "partner" is othering LGBT people, making LGBT lives appear different to heterosexual's lives, by using different vocabulary.

This could be more concisely written: "Hugo married his husband, Alexander Nyborg Olsson, on 4 December 2018." 2A02:8309:2183:7800:A86F:3929:3E2E:63BD (talk) 14:05, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

2023 album Eden and single Fade Out[edit]

Hugo released a new album, "Eden", in November 2023. This was preceded by the single "Fade Out" in October 2023, which he wrote in response to neo-Nazis and homophobic Christians being allowed to demonstrate against LGBT people in Norway. He confirmed via Instagram that he'd received a lot of abuse from Christians for the line, "who needs police who let Nazis walk our streets?" He confirmed, via Instagram, that the song was influenced by Radiohead's "Street Spirit (Fade Out)". 2 other singles "Royal" and "Stuck in the Middle of Nowhere" were released before Fade Out. Sorry, I don't know how to find these comments to cite this. 2A02:8309:2183:7800:A86F:3929:3E2E:63BD (talk) 14:21, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
