Do you have a source for 1536-1614? I think these may be the dates of his much older brother Felix's dates. They differ from the dates for Thomas the younger (1574-1628) suggested by the library of congress name authority file. I don't have to hand either the 1963 diary translation, or Emmanuel Le Roy Ladurie's Beggar and the Professor (which it would be nice to reference) Dsp13 (talk) 00:09, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hm, I think you're right. I thought I'd got these from Literature of Travel and Exploration, but I don't have my own copy to check, and (though this may be a shade WP:OR), if he was "young" and a medical student in 1599 then a 1536 birth date has to be wrong. A search in Google Books for "Thomas Platter the Younger" + 1574 yields these hits, so I'm going to go ahead and change them in the article. Thanks for the headsup!
