I had heard that of the events in this comic masterpiece (and I think it is one) were exaggerated versions of what happened during the making of the notorious flop 'Revolution'. I don't know if that's true. It is however, in my opinion one of the most underated of British comedy films. I particularly love the 'Hollywood' view of Britain with all the MP's wandering around parliament in Top Hats, Rik Mayall as Charlton Heston-like Speaker of the House and Al Pacino able to get from Windscale in Cumbria to London by motorbike in a matter of minutes. As one 'Yorkshire' miner says in his Mississippi accent 'There goes the fastes trade union leader you'll ever see.'
