Voice Actors

The Executive Producer told me directly that all but the three main characters would be voiced by London talent. However, somebody attempted to edit the guide and claim that all sorts of Americans were voicing secondary characters. That is not true. Please stop trying to add cast members unless you have a legitimate source of information. --HuntsmanTZ (talk) 15:18, 23 April 2011 (UTC)

Number of Episodes

There are only eighteen episodes in the first season. The official press releases claim there are 36, but those are individual stories. When the series premieres on television, two stories will make up one episode, ergo there are only eighteen episodes in the first season. Somebody keeps reverting my edit and claiming there are forty episodes. Please stop doing that. --HuntsmanTZ (talk) 15:18, 23 April 2011 (UTC)

Considering 15 minute shows are the new norm for CN and all the press releases are treating the show as 15 minutes long, I think Gumball should be listed as a 15 minute series unless the production numbers explicitly state that the show consists of 2x11 min. segments. Also, keep in mind that while CNUK lists Gumball as a 2x11 min. segment series, they also do the same with Regular Show, which is officially 11 minutes long. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.82.11.104 (talk) 02:00, 26 April 2011 (UTC)

Part nostalgic?

I saw some shorts on Boomerang and thought the backdrop looked like real film, albeit of 1950s-70s ranch-style houses and lawns. I am making the suggestion that someone who knows about this should explain this in the article (and thus improve the article); I do not have the foggiest idea of where to even start to research this information and my computer skills suck. Edit request from TacticalMaster, 21 August 2011

Hello, I would like to edit The Amazing World of Gumball. It is a short edit. Here are the things I will edit/add:

Extended content

Characters

Waterson Family

  • Gumball Watterson (voiced by Logan Grove): The main and titular character. A twelve year old cat with an epic flair for misadventure. No matter how badly his plans go, his unbounded optimism prevents him from learning any lessons. He attends Elmore Junior High and has a crush on Penny, the antlered peanut.
  • Darwin Watterson (voiced by Kwesi Boakye): Formerly Gumball's pet fish, he grew legs one day and became fast friends with Gumball. He subsequently became a member of the family. Due to his sudden introduction into the world, his world view is somewhat skewed and he tends to be more naïve than other characters. He attends Elmore Junior High alongside Gumball.
  • Anais Watterson (voiced by Kyla Rae Kowalewski): A prodigy at only four years old, she is a rabbit who is considered to be the youngest and smartest character on the show, often being called a genius and attending school with her much older brother. Gumball resents the fact that she is always telling him what to do, but deep down, he knows that she is usually right.
  • Nicole Watterson (voiced by Teresa Gallagher): A working cat mother who works long hours at the rainbow factory. She is the only responsible member of the family. She has a short temper and can get quite angry, and is also competitive by nature.
  • Richard Watterson (voiced by Dan Russell): A massive rabbit and a stay at home father, he does not appear to have any degree of responsibility. He usually just spends all of his time watching television and playing video games, occasionally not even bothering to get dressed. He has a large appetite and is a voracious eater.

Children

  • Tobias: (voiced by) A sports boy. He is very athletic and obsessed with sports.
  • Banana Joe: (voiced by) A comical banana. It is shown he has parents in "The Responsible".
  • Bobert: (voiced by) Bobert is a robot. It is very scientifical.
  • Penny: (voiced by) An antlered peanut with a sweet personality. She is a cheerleader. She is Gumball's love interest, as well as hers.
  • Masami: (voiced by) A small cloud. Whenever she gets angry or sad, she becomes a thundercloud. In "The Pressure", it heavily hints she has a love interest with Darwin.
  • Teri: (voiced by) A papered bear. She is most of the time sick.
  • Tina: (voiced by) A tyrannosaurus rex. She has a dad, who eats trespassers at her home which is a car junkyard.
  • Carrie: (voiced by) An emo ghost. She usually has trouble eating food most of the time. She can possess other living beings by going into them.
  • Leslie: (voiced by) A potted flower. She likes gardens, flowers, and anything greenery.
  • Alan: (voiced by) A high-pitched talking balloon. One often used gags is that he keeps saying that he has no hands. He has a love and impossible love interest with Carmen the cactus.
  • Carmen: (voiced by) A walking cactus. Usually, Alan has a love interest with her shown in the trailer.
  • Clayton: (voiced by) A ball of clay. He can shape himself into anything since being made of clay.
  • Anton: (voiced by) A walking toast bread. He is usually childish.
  • Juke: (voiced by) A radio-headed boy. He is a foreign exchange student. He only speaks in beatboxing.
  • Hector: (voice by) A massive furry giant. He is usually silent and quiet.

Adults

  • Laurence 'Larry' Needlemeyer: A pleasant young man, usually working at every stores as a cash register clerk in Elmore. He used to be the laziest man on Elmore until he lost it to Richard Waterson.
  • Miss Simian: Gumball's homeroom teacher. She is usually a mean teacher.
  • Principal Brown: The principal of Elmore Junior High.
  • Rocky: One of the school staff. He is the school's cook, janitor, and bus driver. His family consists of his dad, Mr. Robinson and Mrs. Robinson.
  • Rachel: Tobias' older sister. She is a young teenager.
  • Mr. Small Elmore Junior High's school counselor. He also teaches "Small Kwon Do".
  • Mr. Robinson: An elderly man who live next to the Watersons. He lives along with his wife.

Not done Listing all of the characters would violate WP:IINFO. The listings you gave also have inappropriate unencyclopedic tone (e.g. "his unbounded optimism prevents him from learning any lessons"). It's not notable that they mix several styles?

One of the things that i notice the most about Gumball is how they used so many different styles and techiniques for the different characters (stylized cell animation, cgi puppet, realistic CGI etc); is that somthing that isn't noticeable enough to be mentioned in the article? --TiagoTiago (talk) 21:17, 17 January 2012 (UTC)

Segments / episodes?

It may just be my lack of knowledge on this topic, but shouldn't these "segments" be classified as full episodes? To the best of my knowledge, the term "segment" is used for series like ChalkZone, SpongeBob SquarePants or The Fairly OddParents that air two or more back-to-back segments in one showing. Yet these 11-minute Gumball "segments" are spaced out within one week of each other, in the same vein as other Cartoon Network series like Adventure Time or Regular Show. I don't mean to violate WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS here, but if each 11-minute showing of those two aforementioned CN shows are classified as episodes, then I'm not entirely sure what makes Gumball any different. It seems odd that it's listed as a 22-minute series in the infobox when each individual weekly premiere is just half that length (does it takes two weeks for a full episode to be aired?). Season 1 is listed as having 18 episodes with 36 segments, and the second and third seasons are listed as having 20 episodes with 40 segments, but we have official sources (the show's production company, Cartoon Network via The Hollywood Reporter) using the terms "36 episodes" and "40 episodes" instead.

Still, I'd like to hear some feedback. Anybody got any reliable sources to verify the whole segments thing? If anyone has some comments, then feel free to begin a discussion. Holiday56 (talk) 15:49, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

Season 3 premiere date

IPs and other users keep adding a Season 3 premiere date of May 27, 2014. Future events must be sourced per WP:CRYSTAL, and sources must be reliable, per WP:RS. The only source presented for a specific date so far has been a post in a ToonZone forum. This does not meet Wikipedia's standards. The other reference, a Twitter post from a child actor, doesn't make the cut for reliability, and doesn't state a specific date. Wikipedia is neither a breaking news source, nor is it TV Guide. The information should be excluded until it can be sourced properly. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:24, 1 May 2014 (UTC)

We do not have any reliable sources saying the series is over. Per WP:TVPRESENT, we keep it as is for now. EvergreenFir (talk) 02:42, 6 November 2019 (UTC)

It would be December 28, 2019 thanks to Darwin’s Yearbook. But the show is over. A movie series finale would be separate from the show all together kind of like how Steven Universe has a separate page for its movie and epilogue series. Ms8763 (talk) 23:37, 20 April 2020 (UTC)

The end of one of Cartoon Network's best show

TAWOG was one of the best show ever and it ended after a 10 year run. There might still reruns before the show goes away for good. It might be still possible to watch this memorable show but I guess it's done. I find it very interesting how many of these shows end at a similar time. here's is a list of all shows that ended.

2011: Regular show (2017) Final episode: The Power. 2011: Adventure Time (2018) Final episode: Come Along With Me. 2013: Steven Universe (Original 2019) Final episode: Change Your Mind. 2013: Uncle Grandpa (2017) Final episode: Uncle Greedpa; Exquisite Grandpa Part 2. 2016: Powerpuff Girls (Reboot 2019) Final episode: Sideline Dad. 2016: Mighty Magiswords (2019) Final episode: Let's Team Up Because We Aren't Bad Friends Part 2.

Note: Steven Universe has a new continuation called Steven Universe Future.

And future is over as well Ms8763 (talk) 21:15, 19 June 2020 (UTC)

Put an end to ‘possible film’ section.

It’s been 2 years since the show’s creator hinted at a possible film. We’ve heard no new news from either Cartoon Network or the show’s creator on the matter. If someone finds any news about a Gumball movie from a reliable source that suggests it is being/will be made, please add that to the section. Otherwise, I think the ‘possible film’ section should be removed, unless we hear from CN or the creator of the show again.

Gumball may be back in production

Several articles discussing the recently renamed Hanna-Barbera Studios have mentioned they will continue producing their current local productions INCLUDING Gumball. Here's one of the articles and said quote:

https://kidscreen.com/2021/04/07/warnermedia-revamps-animation-studio-in-emea/

"HBSE will continue to produce shows such as The Amazing World of Gumball (pictured), The Heroic Quest of the Valiant Prince Ivandoe and Elliot from Earth, while also exploring new production opportunities. It’s currently developing The Amazing World of Gumball Movie (working title) for TV."

and another: https://kidscreen.com/2021/04/12/warnermedia-emea-unveils-leadership-team/

"Fell will continue in her role as director of original series EMEA, overseeing the recently rebranded Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe. She will oversee local productions such as The Amazing World of Gumball, The Heroic Quest of the Valiant Prince Ivandoe and Elliot from Earth, while also creating new productions."

This is just from one site other sites are also stating this. Is this enough to mark Gumball as a ongoing show once again or should we just wait till they start rolling out new stuff? MarioFan123 (talk) 23:21, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

Gumball is ending!

I am sorry to say that Ben Bocquelet himself confirmed that The Amazing World of Gumball is ending for real because he has tweeted several times to suggest this. Yet you other editors rely only on Cartoon Network the channel itself to announce if Gumball is ending. I do not approve of this, because Cartoon Network does not speak for most of its original series; Kyle A. Carrozza, creator of Mighty Magiswords, announced the series had ended before it did and you trusted him. Cartoon Network itself did not speak for that series nor did they announce it was ending. What I do not understand why you do not trust Bocquelet to speak for the series, which he actually does because he created the series in the first place.2A00:23C5:6E03:E200:C5A6:7262:2091:5552 (talk) 14:08, 17 June 2019 (UTC)

Why is it so hard to accept it's ending, Cartoon Network never gave an official announcement to the end of Uncle Grandpa, Clarence or Mighty Magiswords, but you took the creators' word for it, so why not Gumball. Ben was very involved in the show from beginning to end, and it's kind of disrespectful that you don't think his statement is good enough 13:18, 23 June 2019 (UTC)

I’m sorry, but that’s not how things work here. Also, it was pretty clear about the former three shows ending, it’s not so clear with Gumball. And no, it’s not disrespectful. I think the show has in fact ended, but we’re keeping it in the open until further confirmation. Also, CN not speaking for its OWN shows is a false statement and you know that.HurricaneGeek2002 (talk) 06:33, 12 July 2019 (UTC)

-It IS clear with Gumball. If it were not, Ben Bocquelet himself would never have said Gumball was ending in the first place.2A00:23C5:AA0A:5D00:C05E:8F8F:EDB8:1E06 (talk) 16:03, 23 June 2020 (UTC)

The show hasn't officially ended yet. The show just hasn't yet been renewed for a seventh season, but that doesn't mean there won't be one. Until Cartoon Network announces that show is being cancelled, there is always a chance the show can be renewed again in the future. As for the creator of the show, he mentioned it was ending for now because it wasn't renewed. But again, shows can be renewed in the future unless they are officially cancelled. Updating

There's been a lot of crazy stuff going on within the Warner Bros. Discovery Merger including the Gumball Movie no longer continuing on HBO MAX. The film is also now kinda in development hell. This page should be updated to keep up with what is going on with that. LeotheBoy1110 (talk) 22:46, 6 September 2022 (UTC)

i don't know who edited the future section to add in the season 7 producer but "emma fernando" never worked on The Heroic Quest of the Valiant Prince Ivandoe not as a series producer, at least (she did however work on Elliott From Earth). her IMDb page says that she worked on gumball as a pre-production manager for four episodes and that was in 2015. isn't it suspicious that there's no reliable mention of her up until recently?
considering the NDA that people who work with CN are made to sign, i would advise against citing her as a reliable source. Cat-with-the-'tism (talk) 19:43, 24 December 2022 (UTC)

S7 is appearantly in the works https://twitter.com/TheCartoonBase/status/1614746817996140544 2600:1700:E450:60F0:FC60:9886:69B8:2E08 (talk) 01:11, 30 January 2023 (UTC)

The world of the gumball

Gumball is noted for its intentional stylistic disunity, with characters designed ,filmed, and animated using various styles and techniques, oftentimes within the same scence. 61.6.238.251 (talk) 10:12, 1 March 2023 (UTC)

New season announced

A new season has recently been announced, though an air date has not been confirmed yet. There is disagreement on whether the airdate listed in the infobox should be correspondingly updated before the seventh season premiers. Being currently in production could warrant a designation of 2011–present, but it may violate WP:CRYSTAL because there is always a possibility that the planned season will be abruptly scrapped. The last existing episode aired in 2019, so the status quo is to list the airdate as 2011–2019. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 16:54, 16 June 2023 (UTC)

I think it should be listed as 2011–present. Other shows that have been recently revived for new seasons such Phineas and Ferb and Aqua Teen Hunger Force have their Wikipedia pages set to present with no release date in sight. So I don't understand why the same can't be done for Gumball. MarioFan123 (talk) 18:16, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
Just because other revived shows do that doesn't make it correct. But I am inclined to agree with you because Template:Infobox Television says "Use "present" if the show is ongoing or renewed." But the fact that there is no confirmed air date and we only know that the show is coming (unless suddenly cancelled) makes me feel like we should wait for more info. Tube·of·Light 03:21, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
Regardless, new episodes are STILL being produced. BaldiBasicsFan (talk) 03:42, 18 June 2023 (UTC)
Time for an RfC? –LaundryPizza03 (d) 08:59, 18 June 2023 (UTC)

RfC: Airdate in infobox

The most recent existing episode of TAWOG (end of season 6) aired in 2019. With the recent announcement of a new upcoming season,[1] should the airdate be updated to 2011–present, or remain as 2011–2019? –LaundryPizza03 (d) 07:47, 25 June 2023 (UTC)

There is another unresolved decision that will become relevant only once the new season premiers: whether the airdate should include the gap between seasons 6 and the revival (2011–2019; 20xx–present) or not (2011–present). –LaundryPizza03 (d) 07:47, 25 June 2023 (UTC)
It should use the more specific option.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  09:00, 25 June 2023 (UTC)
  • Use 2011–present: 'Use "present" if the show is ongoing or renewed' is rather clear instruction. This really isn't qualitatively only temporo-quantitatively different from a mid-season break in which the air-date of the next episode is uncertain and might span across into the next year.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  09:00, 25 June 2023 (UTC)
Not if production start-up hasn't been confirmed yet – until they start actually putting together the animation again, a return hasn't actually happened yet. Also, as per LaundryPizza03's point above, if the break between seasons is long enough (I'm thinking 5 years or more), then it should be done as two ranges – e.g. "2011–2015; 2022–present"). --IJBall (contribstalk) 14:52, 25 June 2023 (UTC)
I can go with "2011–2015, 2022–present" if we think the renewed production started up in 2022.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  00:13, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
Use 2011-present, but say that they're on hiatus, similar to Linkin Park. They haven't release any new music, but they haven't officially broken up. Sincerely, Key of G Minor. Tools: (talk, contribs) 16:43, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
  • I prefer the broken up date as that is easier to understand that it has not been running continually but had a significant gap. I would hold off on making that change until a release date is set, or at least until production has been confirmed as shows get announced often and then canceled. Dobblesteintalk 15:48, 20 July 2023 (UTC)
Use 2011 - present - with the official announcement of a new season, this show now falls under the definition of "present" for a their timeline. More clarification can be given later about specific dates of the different seasons. Pickalittletalkalittle (talk) 18:49, 20 July 2023 (UTC)

"Seventh Season"

I'm pretty sure that the "seventh season" Emma Fernando said she would be series producer of is the same season that was later said to be in production, so it shouldn't really be treated as if it were a new topic. 2603:6010:8B45:FA00:513E:C979:D580:281C (talk) 16:30, 14 September 2023 (UTC)

A release window was recently confirmed for season 7

A release window was recently confirmed for season 7 in some of the replies to a Tik Tok video by one of the animators that worked on the show [[3]], so if someone could add this information to the article that would be wonderful. Edit: Also, while it's a possibility that this isn't true, at the same time it doesn't seem false but again though, I guess we're going to have to wait for Cartoon Network to confirm its 100% true Idkk1234567890 (talk) 05:20, 7 November 2023 (UTC)

Sorry but TikTok posts from people whose reliability aren't easily verified can't be used as sources. We will have to wait until an actual news source reports on it. Tube·of·Light 07:52, 7 November 2023 (UTC)
Fair enough, I guess we'll just wait for cartoon network to confirm it just to make sure it's 100% true Idkk1234567890 (talk) 19:54, 7 November 2023 (UTC)
