Why not? There are other suspects, they are not mentioned, and last I checked, it is still "Innocent, until PROVEN guilty"... he has not yet had a trial, no conviction, and this is an encyclopedia, not a tabloid. In any case the information contained on the page may be inaccurate. The news feeds as of 6:45 a.m. on 26 August appear to be saying that Mr. Gartrell was arrested on drug and weapons charges. The information about a real, reported or suspected "plot" is mostly hype, at least until the FBI and the Secret Service announce something more substantial. It may turn out to be nothing more than a routine drug-weapons story coupled with geographical proximity to the Democratic convention and an arrestee who shot his mouth off. The proposed deletion is due to notability concerns. Move/Redirect to new article[edit]

I don't think he needs his own article, but I believe the overall incident needs to have a small article mentioning the major players (so to speak) of what happened. Perhaps redirecting all to Obama assassination plot 2008 would suffice and if nothing else comes from it, then a merge into the Obama's article in a couple of paragraphs would suffice. --Hourick (talk) 18:59, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Hourick. Move Tharin Gartrell, as well as info on Shawn Robert Adolf and Nathan Johnson, into a 2008 Barack Obama assassination plot article. Make brief mention of it in 2008 Democratic National Convention and Barack Obama presidential campaign, 2008 (in the context of the National Convention) and then link to the main assassination plot article in both places. The plot itself is certainly worthy of an article, but based on Wikipedia:BLP1E#Articles_about_people_notable_only_for_one_event, it should be the plot, not the people. -- Hunter Kahn (talk) 20:38, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I took the initiative "seeded" a new article for 2008 Barack Obama assassination plot and I believe we can start merging everything. Eventually, I think that article might be deleted and merged into Obama's article, but at least we have a place to consolidate information and references.--Hourick (talk) 21:20, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
