The name TESLA applied to ANY thing is still not well known by the poopul;ation of thr United Sates where Dr. teslas work was mostly done!THEEDSON1 (talk) 03:42, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

TESLA (from "TEchnika SLAboproudá" - which means "Low voltage technology")is not true. The compnay rename in honor of Nikola Tesla, and the company name TESLA is last name of Nikola Tesla. - 74.15.50.134 (talk · contribs)

  • Officially, the name indeed means "Technika slaboproudá" (e.g. [1]). From what I heard, the intention was to name the company after Nikola Tesla, but Yugoslavia protested and demanded a payment to permit the usage of the scientist's name, so Czechoslovakians came with this explanation. (Over time, people invented a different explanation: "Technicky slabé" - "Technically weak".) - Mike Rosoft (talk) 06:57, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Great TESLA ARENA in Czech Republic[edit]

GTheres a Great Arena Venue Name TESLA ARENA in Czech Republic. Was this part of the Tesla Conglomerate of the former Czechslovokia?Einuber (talk) 01:22, 29 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Tipsport Arena (Prague) was named that in 2008-2011. Probably after a Czech company Tesla a.s. Prague-Hloubětín, a direct successor of the state-owned Czechoslovak conglomerate. Jirka.h23 (talk) 13:48, 2 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Tesla (company)Tesla (Czechoslovak company) – Incomplete disambiguation. If anything, readers searching for "Tesla (company)" are looking for Tesla Motors. Redirect the current title to Tesla#Businesses and brands. --BDD (talk) 12:20, 12 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Why is that? It looks like the company was just active in Czechoslovakia. --BDD (talk) 17:19, 12 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I think Czech company is a more recognizable and natural disambiguator than Czechoslovak company. Both refer to Czechoslovakia. --В²C 18:53, 12 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps, but it seems misleading. We have Czechoslovak koruna, Czechoslovak passport, Category:Czechoslovak people, etc. I'm too young to remember much discussion of Czechoslovakia—I'm sure "Czech" was used as shorthand for "Czechoslovak", but I think it behooves us as an encyclopedia to be accurate. I'd save "Czech" in those contexts for entities strictly connected with the present Czech Republic. --BDD (talk) 20:32, 12 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict)Oh, Jeez. I'm so old "Czech" to me refers exclusively to Czechoslovakia. The "Czechoslovak" construct seems contrived, unnatural. But I suppose it's correct[2]. Okay, fine. --В²C 20:42, 12 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support as proposed – "Czech" is inappropriate, as is Czech ethnocentrism. It is also historically ambiguous, as it doesn't make clear whether it is referring to the Czechoslovak period or the current Czech period. RGloucester 20:39, 12 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. Doesn't seem like a natural disambiguator to me, but I suppose it is. See discussion just above. --В²C 20:42, 12 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. The current title should point to the disambiguation page -- 65.94.43.89 (talk) 04:59, 13 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I think the article should be named Tesla (Czech brand). As the direct successor is Tesla a.s. Prague, which leases the Tesla brand to other companies. Info about the Czechoslovak conglomerate thus could also be used here. Jirka.h23 (talk) 13:48, 2 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Electric & Regular Battery Install[edit]

I may be wrong...but it would be a sure sale if a backup battery were installed. If down the Rd & Elect. Battery died, could install backup regular battery. Just hook up from the trunk to engine, take elect. In a pocket. Many will not buy Tesla if unable to travel a distance w/electric battery! Same goes for trucks too! 2600:6C5E:1800:4C67:5878:B7D4:3DA1:5F45 (talk) 19:05, 11 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
