what happened to the 2005-06 season?

as of now, in the timeline, there is a mention of the training camp prior to the season, and his being cut from the Philadelphia Eagles, but no mention of the 2005 season, his being deactivated, or what led up to that. maybe someone can fix this? If this problem is not fixed, his reputation will continue heading in the wrong direction.

Also, there should be a mention of his newly published book that was probably ghostwritten...

Images

I agree--that policy is single-handedly holding back wikipedia. It's a fucking joke. Is there such a fucking thing as an acceptable image? Even fucking images that I create myself have been deleted from entries I've made. It's a fucking disgrace...change it, wikipedia. - unsigned

I agree with both of you, it's a ridiculous policy. It is the sole responsibility of the copyright owner to protect his work. Wikipedia however is never going to change that policy, there are too many people looking for a reason to shut this site down for stuffing the internet full of bullshit and nearly making true factual information impossible to find. A copyrighted image being displayed on one of these pages could help to serve that agenda. Wikipedia is not a information resource headquarters, it's myspace for nerds. To think of all the truly factual information I used to contribute to this site that got removed by popular opinion... It's why any good school (roughly 95% of public and private) will not allow you to cite wikipedia. Confusion

"The day before the Eagles lost to the Dallas Cowboys at Home; 21-20 on October 14, 2005, Terrell Owens did not appologize to Ashton Kutcher after Kutcher read a apology letter written by T.O. on MTV's Punk'd. " This is missing information, I don't know what exactly is trying to be said here or what exactly it may be missing. Could the person who wrote it please clarify this?

• What was Ashton Kutcher's controversy with T.O. and was it relevant enough to be in this article?
• What would he be apologizing for? I.E. what happened.

Firstly I didn't know if the person who wrote it may have known something I didn't but failed to express it properly on his first try and secondly what do you mean by the stats being unorganized? the notables? or the year by year stats? or the way they are sectioned apart? the year by year stats were tore down and re-done on a collective effort by me and Gherald and I think they're perfect, I'm preaching the new coding style and layout to be used as a new standard. "Controversially" deactivated

While I don't feel strongly enough about this to add it back, I don't see how saying Owens was "controversially" deactivated makes it POV; that's not implying that the decision was right or wrong, it's just saying it was controversial, which it no doubt was. I don't especially care either way either, but who was it controversial to? Owens, his agent, and his union? The rest of the world kind of just reported on the fiasco, and no one with the exception of Michael Irvin tried to defend him. Owens' time as a 49er

Someone needs to put in more about Owens time as a 49er. For example, "The Catch II" is an indelible part of football lore.

First off, I added a {{Fact}} next to the recently added 40-yard dash record claim. If someone can verify this, it will stay. Secondly, is there really a point in having a 'Quotes' section? Dumb Picture

That picture of Terrell Owens stamping on the star that was edited to show T.O. wearing a cowboys uniform was deleted. That picture isn't real, so shouldn't be there anyways, plus is actually offensive to Cowboys fans, even with the new colors. The star is a symbol to represent many and not one.

The event happened (sort of), but the image isn't real. Someone edited the colors of the uniform from 49ers to Cowboys. He ran onto the star as you saw on ESPN as a 49er. That picture showed him as a cowboy. He hasn't even played a game for them yet.

Rap Song

Lets not make a mention of Terrells Rap song in this article. It really isn't a big deal and can be interpreted many ways. I honestly see it as something that looks bad for him.Hes not a hustler he is a hard working athalete sike. The song is just about him getting money. He really only disses the pundits that said he would be signed cheap. I think this shows that he signed quickly with the Cowboys because of their offer, before thinking if he could actually be happy there with Bledsoe and the style of offense the cowboys employ.

Like I said, since it really isn't a big deal to begin with, there is no point of putting it in here.

There appears to be a severe lack of references in this article. Per WP:LIVING, anything not referenced should be deleted. I don't think it would contribute to collegial relations with other Wikipedia editors if I (or anyone else) started removing huge swaths of text from this article but I'm afraid unless some serious work is done that may become necessary. Much of the information does appear to be legitimate and it would be a shame to remove it because someone didn't take the time to properly source it. --ElKevbo 17:12, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

Pro TO Vandalism

It appears that a lot has been removed to favor TO. He has been causing trouble in Dallas already by faking a hamstring injury and Parcells is ready to blow up, yet this was taken out, in addition to him not showing up for the daycamp he was running, and also the incident where he wore the opposing teams jersey to the mavericks championship game.

Dude, why are you deleting the More Controversey section. This is an encyclopedia...right? So why are you deleting what happened. The POV is fair. If you think it is not change the parts that are not. But don't delete the entire section. That is an integral part of this persons life. IT HAS TO BE THERE. Its like a biography of Lincoln w/o the civil war.

There are sources there already, and the radio blurbs did happen. and he does say the same things in his new book. the POV is proper and sources are accurate. This fully complies with WP:LIVING.

In addition, I am deleting the Desperate Housewives section. It is just not needed or a big deal. I'll keep a small mention of it under the trivia section.

Rather than adding it with his Professional Career, I think we should just make a "Controversy" section. After reviewing the The "2005 Controversy" section, you can re-add it; although another Wikipedian may delete it again for reseason I'm not sure of. --ShadowJester07 03:24, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

I agree with adding a controvery section and please do it if you like. Right now, I think everything is okay.

Just to recap, I deleted the desperate houswife section, re-added the More 2005 Controversey section (with edits to establish proper POV), and also expanded on current dallas situation and controversy (with sources)

before anybody deletes or adds anything, lets discuss it first. I don't want to come back later and un-delete everything.

Intro Section

I propose removing the info about Owens' being deactivated from the intro. This is a (somewhat) current event, and is important to the article, but seems out of place here. The intro should give a brief overview of this person's life, similar to other biographical entries. Owens' is more widely known for his controversial actions than for any one specific episode. We should rework the paragraph to reflect that and save the specific incidents for later in the article. I'll wait for additional input before changing. CPitt76 01:54, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

The article claims that TO died today (9-27-2006). I just saw Terrell Owens on a live press conference an hour ago, and he seemed quite alive to me.

His college was listed as University of Texas at El Paso. But I changed it to University of Tennessee at Chattanooga since I'm pretty sure that's where he went.

I think we should add some more pictures to this article. Also I was wondering if maybe we should put a section on Owens' two books. The first is mentioned in the article, but his second one is only briefly referred to.

Unnecessary deletion

The following well-sourced information was rudely deleted. There would have been no harm in leaving this information until the game mentioned in the information occured: "Though the Cowboys have won the last 2 games against the Eagles [1], the offense of the Eagles is ranked #1 in the NFL [2]; the match is predicted to be a close game [3]." Advice to the editor: try postively contributing instead of deleting; it's more helpful to Wikipedia.

Dude, it is relevant and it doesn't come out of nowhere. You know his history with his quaterbacks and his insulting remarks about them. Please stop removing the abbreviation "UTC" from the final sentence of the first paragraph of the "Early life" section. The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is abbreviated UTC. The institution's Wikipedia article says so. As a UT alumnus, I say so. And I'm positive that even the briefest search would turn up more than enough additional evidence to support this contention. It's not even contentious! Further, the abbreviation is used in the very next sentence'. Before you use an abbreviation, you must define it. So please stop removing this and labeling it vandalism. I think we need more info on his S.F. years, mainly controversey. Its not like it all started with the Eagles. I didn't really follow him then, so if anyone knows, please add on.

Proper Pronunciation

Could someone clarify how his first name is supposed to be pronounced? Either "Tur-rel" or "Tear-ul". Since I have heard commentators and sports reporters refer to him by both names.CharlieP216
