Hi Jon698, I'm going to be reviewing this article. Let me just have a read-through, and I'll get back to you. How my reviews are structured is that I initially make suggestions to ensure the article is the best it can be before going through the formal review.

Review[edit]

Intro[edit]

Looks like a well written article so far. The intro is quite concise. It would be good to see if this can be expanded with a shortened summary of his career and notable actions in it?

Main Body[edit]

This section is in chronological order, which is good.

  • Could the sub-subheadings be supplemented with notable points during his career instead of just the dates? This would help increase navigability for a reader looking for a specific action.

Otherwise, content seems to be very good.

Political Positions[edit]

  • Would it be possible to add in specific historical context to each of these positions? In one instance, as shown in 'In 1965, he started efforts to have the Agate Fossil Beds established as a protected landscape, but was unsuccessful although they would be recognized as such in 1997', it would be good to have some wider context around.

References[edit]

All done well. Thumbs up here.

Images[edit]

  • The use of images is fine at the moment, but it would be great to see if more photos could be found. Possibly in the Congressional archives, his local state or in Newspaper clippings.

Other[edit]

  • Can his military rank be found?

Overall[edit]

Well written article overall nearly at GA. If the above can be done, there should be no problems adding that green "Good Article" sign! :) SerAntoniDeMiloni (talk) 18:46, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • @SerAntoniDeMiloni: Okay here are some of the things I have done with your suggestions. 1. I found that his rank was captain and added it. 2. I added two images from the start and end of his congressional career. 3. Improved references for the political elections that I somehow forgot to include. - Jon698 (talk) 20:52, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • For the section titles I can't really see a better way to title them other than using the years he was in the House of Representatives. - Jon698 (talk) 20:52, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Jon698: No problem – those are all fine now. I'd now suggest adding in a large amount of context from other wiki pages, as well as expanding the intro as per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lead section SerAntoniDeMiloni (talk) 16:59, 6 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hold[edit]

I'm going to put this on hold until the above can be done/editor comment is received. Thanks! SerAntoniDeMiloni (talk) 15:03, 9 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Further comments[edit]

    • Hi @Jon698:. The article is definitely getting closer, but I still believe it could have more in the lead intro. For instance a brief summary of his land claims around the snake river, as well as main points & views in his career. I feel these would help compliment his listed positions. I also think it would be great to add more to the gold claims section; there's more in the cited news clipping and in google books. I feel that this is a key part, and would be helpful to elaborate on :) Possibly have the Gold claims as a spin-off section?

Some context is also needed around the main points, for instance 'In 1965, he supported a bill created by Representative Omar Burleson that would reduce the United States' importation of oil from 2,200,000 barrels by 375,000 barrels daily and increase domestic production of oil.' could have more information added on the context and repercussions. I've also found some more on him here: http://www.roncalio.com/Teno/index.htm. It might be worth having a look.

Overall, this is very close (and very well written so far). Best, SerAntoniDeMiloni (talk) 09:35, 10 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Jon698:. You have a sentence on the anti-segregation bill that he drafted, but it may be worth expanding this as well as adding a note on this stance in the lead. Status query[edit]

SerAntoniDeMiloni, Jon698, where does this review stand? It has been a month since the last post to this page (by SerAntoniDeMiloni), and a week longer than that since Jon698's most recent edit to the article. If the review doesn't make any progress soon, perhaps it should be closed. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 05:36, 30 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks @BlueMoonset. I'm still a bit unsure about wether certain aspects of this article would pass. I'm going ahead and asking for a second opinion. Best, SerAntoniDeMiloni (talk) 09:42, 30 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@BlueMoonset: @SerAntoniDeMiloni: I am okay letting the nomination close. I will not have enough time to focus on the GA nomination as I am starting college in a few days. - Jon698 (talk) 17:17, 30 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Jon698: No worries. Enjoy college! SerAntoniDeMiloni (talk) 17:47, 30 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
SerAntoniDeMiloni, you haven't closed the nomination yet (as unsuccessful). Were you going to, or would you like me to do it? BlueMoonset (talk) 04:04, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
BlueMoonset, it would be super if you'd be able to close. Best, SerAntoniDeMiloni (talk) 07:56, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It's now closed. BlueMoonset (talk) 15:08, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
