Stolen Plot Summary

The plot summary written in this section is a barely paraphrased copy of the Ain't It Cool News review of the movie (viewable here. Yes, it does "source" the article, but it is not usually common Wikipedia practice to have such a blatant ripoff.

Release Date

Just a bit confused about the release date, article says 14th Nov but infobox says 22nd. Can anyone clear this up? Thanks EJaY 19:58, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

The album is released November 14, the movie starts November 17, but us here in Australia have to wait until the 27th DAMN MY LOCATION hope that helps Tenacious Nick 21:50 25 October 2006

Soundtrack track listing

I think the track listing for the soundtracks should not be in this article since it is already in the soundtrack's article, which is linked on this page. What are others opinions on the matter? Joltman 17:38, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

I was hoping that they played the song "Tribute", i think this would have fitted well into the storyline, especially at the end where they defeated the devil, and couldnt remember the "greatest song in the world", it would have been a very nice ending, it was disappointing it never happened though! :( Anonymous, 18:05, 21 February 2007 (GMT)

Sasquatch reference

The reference to Sasquatch is not from the Spider-Man song. There are many different versions of their Spider-Man cover in which Spider-Man faces off against various people (depending on what version you hear). Furthermore, Tenacious D has a song about Sasquatch himself and is even featured in the episode of their television series entitled Death of a Dream. Carface 23:13, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

Trivia?

An interesting point that could be included in the article under trivia or some other title is that the devil during his solo in the rockoff uses a guitar that is notably similar to Dimebag Darrels ML Dean, its got the the same shape, lightning bolts and everything. The scene in which JB is on the park bench and is attacked by the mysterious masked clowns is a reference to A Clockwork Orange.

Here is why it failed!

Most people i've talked to said that the preview was lame (i agree, it wasn't funny). Based on that, many people avoided seeing it. They shouldn't have because it was actually pretty funny!

My personal opinion of why people think poorly of this film is because so much of it is sung that you need to be attuned to the lyrics of Tenacious D to get the full benefit of the film. Id rather watch this again than borat.--Pypex 23:22, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

Opinions, no matter how objective one can bend them to be, don't help matters. The viable reasons for poor performance do seem to hinge on its stiff competition (Borat, then again, that could be said for any other movie opening that weekend, etc.) and disappointing word-of-mouth/printed reviews but the latter would need evidence to support the notion that most people reading unfavourable reviews had chosen to not see it based solely on what they read. All things aside, eliminating the reasons and rephrasing that section of the article until some cited proof can turn up might be a route to consider, despite the obvious lead-in here by a troll looking to spark such a debate. 71.156.85.133 01:56, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

While I enjoyed the movie as a whole, there were definately some issues with the movie. The fact the movie will be far less funny for those who are not fans of Tenacious D is a good start. A majority of the parts I liked the most were the parts that gave insight to the inspiration of their album Tenacious D.(which chronologically from the stand point of the movie has not been released yet) The main problem I had with the movie came mostly in the second half. The songs played in the movie are often far more "epic" than the cinema that went along with them. The 2nd half of the movie feels like it is just stringing together poorly made music videos, despite the songs being far more interesting than what is being shown in the movie. All in all though the fact the movie is aimed specifically at Tenacious D fans definately hurt the films ability to reach out to other audiences.

Incorrect trivia

The trivia point "When Master Exploder is played it had been pre-recorded so the use of two guitars not possible to play were used (Legs, 3 Necked Axe)." is incorrect. The song was unquestionably recorded seperately (they change clothes 3 or 4 times), and the 6 han. ded solo would indeed be impossible for a single person to play. However, the double guitar dubbed 'Legs' is not impossible to play ([1]). The statement is therefore false. DrAvery 20:08, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

Trivia section delete

The section should be deleted because it does not follow WP:TRIV; most of the content in the section lately seems to be very random, and not necessary for the reader, lots of it is from unreliable resources and it most definitely should be integrated into other parts of the article wher it makes sense. --Spebi 00:13, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

The Terms of the Rock-Off

I fixed a mistake in the plot section. The original text said that Satan announced that KJ would be his sex slave if the band lost the rock-off, but in the movie Jack is the one to create this term, after Satan asks what he'll get for defeating them.
