Blekman/Buhicrosan[edit]

Is there any evidence that Blekman and Buhicrosan were the same person? This website [1], which is not published but seems to be well-researched, has them as different people, with Buhicrosan being someone called William Bellingham Neville. Southdevonian (talk) 03:21, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The Library of Congress seems to think so. So does the London Picture Archive. However, these refs may just be repeating some old error. I'd like to see what this book says: Paper Butterflies: Unravelling the Mystery of Tannaker Buhicrosan, Paul Budden, Gatekeeper Press (2020). Can you get your hands on it? -- Ssilvers (talk) 04:02, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No I don't have a copy, but I am wondering now if perhaps it is where the information on the ninjin website comes from. The death of Frederick Edouard Blekman is registered in 1888, while Buhicrosan died in 1894. And Buhicrosan married under the name of Tannaker Billingham N Buhicrosan and some of the children had Billingham or Neville in their name, not that that conclusively proves anything. It is a nice article but it may be about the wrong person! Anyway I am not going to start edit warring over it. If reliably sourced evidence emerges it might be better to start the article with what is known about Buhicrosan and then have a section with theories about his origins. I only came across this article because I was researching William Bellingham Neville senior and wondering if he was a son of John Bellingham. Southdevonian (talk) 12:49, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, we may as well wait until someone looks deeper into this (at the library!), but I am guessing that your instincts are correct. -- Ssilvers (talk) 16:50, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
