Rowley?[edit]

Why is Rowley listed as a connected family? There's no mention of it in the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 139.137.128.52 (talk) 15:05, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Untitled[edit]

I am certainly OK with merger with other Taft articles, but may not have too much to add in the references. The best source is the autobiography of Alfonso Taft. Some of it is local history and not too sure of all their original sources. Thanks. User:KSherin:Talk 19:02 UTC 2008-05-04

I vote merge. ~ —Preceding unsigned comment added by Politics n such (talkcontribs) 23:58, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A Second William Howard Taft[edit]

I've seen there's William Howard Taft I and William Howard Taft III, but no II. Is there anyone called that, or they just passed it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.228.1.76 (talk) 11:17, 17 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Just should anyone look here and not have located him on the tree in the article: William Howard Taft II was president William Howard Taft (I)'s nephew, being son of his younger brother Henry Waters Taft (1859-1945). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.144.69.56 (talk) 01:27, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation[edit]

How is the name Taft pronounced? What lexical set is its vowel? Is it a TRAP vowel, making it /tæft/ in both England and North America? Or is it a BATH vowel, making it /tɑːft/ in England? - Gilgamesh (talk) 07:26, 11 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The former, TRAP. --118.209.171.54 (talk) 23:14, 5 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

S. Tucker Taft[edit]

Prominent in computer science and programming languages (he has invented one called ParaSail), and a very decent chap indeed. As I understand it, he is a member of the Taft dynasty, but not mentioned here at all. debater (talk) 01:37, 7 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Family tree - no sources[edit]

I removed the large family tree section here because:

  • There are no sources at all for this section
  • The section was tagged as needing sources in 2017, but there hasn't been any work on it since then
  • It looks like a personal genealogy web page rather than an encyclopedia article with reliable sources.
  • There is a question of whether or not this is proper information for an encyclopedia, particularly for so many people who are not notable.

If someone works on adding reliable sources: books, newspapers, or other published material, it could be added back.–CaroleHenson (talk) 23:05, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps eliminating the trees without notable people.–CaroleHenson (talk) 23:05, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The list had a number of notable people (those with links). It would take awhile, but it would be nice to at least get the notable people in the article. Is someone interested in helping to find Reliable sources for a condensed list with them?–CaroleHenson (talk) 05:53, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
