Low quality article[edit]

This article is highly POV and full of tendentious and unsourced statements. I've removed some egregious examples. SeamusSweeney (talk) 12:29, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, very limited article on an important topic. Most academic sources are from the 1990's, but there are quite a number of them, including a 1998 book called Tabloid Television published by Routledge, and an academic article in English about a longitudinal study of Dutch TV news. Improvements needed[edit]

I happened across this article and believe that the topic is very important, given today's state of local television news. However, the article is not comprehensive enough and hence I would suggest the following to further improve this article:

A basic history of tabloid television
More information about its format
Relationship to a station's need for ratings.

Also, I suspect that this phenomenon is not restricted to the U.S. Information concerning tabloid television in other countries should also be included. Pentawing 19:05, 16 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Definitely. There are quite a few 'tabloid television' type formats in Australia for one, such as A Current Affair and Today Tonight. Is there a category for these programs? Tim 00:23, 23 October 2005 (UTC)

What isn't tabloid television[edit]

I don't think shows like Entertainment Tonight and post-Bill O'Reilly Inside Edition count less as tabloid TV and more of news magazine material (noted film critic and classy guy Leonard Maltin did appeared on the former during his lifetime). Espngeek (talk) 00:44, 24 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
