Speed[edit]

105 km/h (IB) or 95 km/h (Comparision)?--WerWil (talk) 22:28, 5 December 2010 (UTC) I was in the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment in Iraq from 1990-1991 and The Recon Fox, without a doubt, saved my life many times, over in Iraq during "Desert Storm". Before Saddam invaded Kuwait, we were training with a 113 A3's, to conduct chemical Recon missions. We hade to drive in to the saturated area in MOPP 4, Then lower the ramp, and use a rifle cleaner metal pole, with litmus paper on the end and dab it on the ground to see if chemical agents had been used,?? wtf ?? the problem is that the Nerve agent he used was airbourne, can't see it or smell it. Thats why guys my age are having so many issues. We were breathing that poison without knowing we were,anyway, ..Thats how we would have had to do with all those scud missile attacks, In a 113?? DEAD. Then, the next day , we new we were getting deployed and Top says, "Recon, your going to Sonhofen for a crash coarse on this new German made Recon Fox..wow !!" This machine is so incrediable in so many aspects. Speed is key when your bobbing and weaving to avoid rounds, sand dunes, everything..., With the over-pressure system on board, we just drive right in, no mask, it has huge filters to keep us safe. I was right next to "Eagle" troop and "Killer" troop, taking care of the Iraqi solders that waited til we went flying by, killing everything in our path, these guys would not surrender, they we popping up behind us and taking shots at our heads and whatever way they could kill us. My point is, with me having a new Recon Fox, I could hall ass( My name of my fox was "Bat outta Hell"..Thats how I drove. A 113 is a death trap if your up close to the front lines, so thank you god for giving me the fsatest vehicle in the whole damn desert. Air Condtioning, All Wheel drive with a twin-turbo diesel, putting out over 370 hp, and a 10 speed transmission, this thing was fast. In fact, Germany gave our D.O.D. 60 foxes, 20 went to the Marines, and the other 40 went to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd ACR's and the 3 Armored Divisions..Awesome..I had a couple Field Grade Officers come to me and ask if I could drive them to the rear to take care of there shit..use the phone, but they could ride in style and comfort or a hummvee ???? ok, anyone who wants to ask me anything, I'm right here. I am a 74D (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear specialist) in the US Army. I am also a qualified operator of the Fox in a Recon platoon. I can say from experience, that the Fox and the TPz are exactly the same vehicle. All the parts, materials, and supplies are manufactured in Germany, the reference material for it is translated from German, all the best technicians are Germans. The only points of divergence are the upgrades in armor, weaponry, and some of the detection systems. Protection[edit]

Unmerging of pages[edit]

Previously, the TPz 1 Fuchs, M93 Fox, and the Fuchs 2 were all separate pages. I propose that this become the case again. While the vehicle platform is the same, the three variants feature entirely different capabilities and systems aboard that are exclusive to them and were redesigned to reflect that.

I agree. The M93A1 received a large upgrade package, redesigned recovery equipment, and a broader sensor suite compared to the TPz-1 ABC, so it is a fundamentally different vehicle, even if the base platform is the same. Adykens (talk) 15:12, 5 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
