Disambiguation, or the name — not specifically this subject — as default for this term[edit]

I don't believe that this is clearly the most likely resulting article for someone typing "Tyrone" in WP. I suggest that "Tyrone" should go directly to the disambiguation page.--SidP (talk) 18:06, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I suppose your right. We could simply move the article to the Irish form as it is where the name Tyrone ultimately derives from and it refers specifically to this kingdom. Would also follow the style used for medieval Irish kingdoms such as Ulaid, Airgialla, etc. Etc. Mabuska ^(talk) 22:58, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Having said that, the top of the article does have a dismbiguation link for other uses of Tyrone and at the end of the day the predominant and first usage of the term is in regards to the Gaelic kingdom. Tyrone (disambiguation) → Tyrone

– Two reasons: (1) Not PRIMARYTOPIC — To Irish people, "Tyrone" is far more likely to mean County Tyrone (which existed from 1591 to 1973 as a local government area and still exists as a cultural unit) than to mean Tír Eoghain, the Gaelic kingdom which existed in the centuries before 1591. To most non-Irish people, neither of those meanings is primary. (2) NATURALDIS — Many if not most modern English-language historical sources use the Irish-language form when referring to the Gaelic territory.
