The entrance[edit]

Currently we write that ‘as in most early modern European synagogues, the synagogue was entered not directly form the street, but via a courtyard’. My memory (not a reliable source!) is different. You enter a door from via Olper which opens on a corridor which transverses the building to the courtyard behind. But you enter the synagogue not from the courtyard but directly from the corridor, through a door on the left. Can anyone confirm this? Ian Spackman (talk) 12:21, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

To answer myself: the entrance was originally via the cloister, but was moved to the western wall in 1866.[1] Ian Spackman (talk) 12:46, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
