I had problems with scientific names in series even though I followed the Taxonavigation section and Help:Contents. In essence I attempted to replace the existing stub with my edit. Hopefully my second edit will make clear what I tried to say on the first edit.
My edit now has a discussion section. Let us move to a wider picture. Because of the widespread use of mahogany, and interest in from many angles, each of the three species of True Mahogany needs to be mentioned in Wikipedia's overall mahogany section. Then an obvious link to Wikipedia's existing three species of True Mahogany should be indicated in the overall mahogany section. Following that, an obvious link in each of the three Wikipedia True Mahogany sections should be made to the corresponding Wikispecies sections. I think the botanical aspects (anatomy, reproduction, etc.) should be moved from Wikipedia to the three Wikispecies sections. However, the horticultural material should remain in Wikipedia because of horticultural warnings I will submit later. The botanical features are dry and tough going where they are now placed. Since non English terminology used to describe anatomy and physiological happenings are sprinkled through the text, brief explanations need to be inserted. The general reader following through the system will benefit as well as the specialist who has to reach for a 300 page dictionary of biological names and terms to understand a meaning. A good number will not admit the need. For example, with the Pacific Coast Mahogany (the subject of my latest submission) I would modify as follows: Young brances glabrous (smooth), slender with small roundish, brown lenticles (pores through which exchanges of gasses occurs). Physical description.[edit]
Very little physical description is provided for the species. Do they have compound leaves like other Swietenia? What does the bark look like (yes, I see the photo, but that appears to be a fully mature tree - juveniles may appear differently)? What diameter does the trunk achieve? Does the trunk buttress? Are any of the roots exposed? What is the spread and over-all shape of a mature tree? What does the grain of sawn wood look like? Please provide details.
