Fans section[edit]

The Fans section of this article bothers me, in particular the final " for good or bad" line for NPOV reasons.

I will attempt a rewrite soon if there is no debate/objection. Colonial One 17:29, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn't have a particular problem with it if it cited external sources, but I agree that currently it's in need of revision. Mark Grant 17:33, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I removed much of the original content concerning the fan community: there doesn't seem to be much of one. Replaced with fan-made films. Colonial One 03:38, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I did notice that over a year after I bought my 'limited edition, only 50,000 made' two-disk DVD set that they were still for sale new :). Mark Grant 15:12, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia[edit]

Just wandering through after watching Superman Returns and looking for a bit of background on the mythology... I've removed the statement from the Trivia section that 'Kara' is pronounced 'CAR-a' in the film but should really be pronounced 'CARE-ah'. This had been marked as needing a cite, but I'm going further and getting rid of it since there's no 'actual' way to pronounce a name. If I meet someone who says her name's 'CAR-a' it's not my place nor Wikipedia's to tell her it isn't. - Shrivenzale 13:39, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, that may be, but if my name was Tom it would be incorrect if you pronounced it Toom. --Bentonia School 14:50, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Aye, true - but I'm not sure you followed what I said. If you told me that your name was pronounced 'Tom' and I pronounced it 'Tom', and then someone else published a statement saying that your name should be pronounced 'Toom', would they then be right? - Shrivenzale 22:37, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Helen Slater as Supergirl.png[edit]

Image:Helen Slater as Supergirl.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:13, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Many people liked it?[edit]

I'll concede that it's not a flop if it made money, but there is a citation request for the assertion that many people thought it was a great fantasy film. Checking out Rotten Tomatoes I see that it has a 9% rating. That's pretty low. Even the positive reviews are backhanded, one saying that "it's so bad it's good". I'm just going to remove the statement altogether from the article since there doesn't seem to be any way to back it up. -- Atamasama 21:42, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is it didn't make money. Not profit money anyway. 88.104.27.16 (talk) 04:12, 13 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

But the box office total is only taken into account the North American release. It was released in the cinemas in the UK and Australia. Just because critics didn't like it doesn't mean it isn't a good stand alone film. I really enjoyed it and its a shame it gets so much negativity. Whether a money maker or not Supergirl does have a cult following. 2.25.106.2 (talk) 20:41, 18 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sources[edit]

Can I just remind people that the Trivia sections on IMDB pages are not valid sources as they can be edited by anybody, just like Wikipedia. Thank you. 88.104.27.16 (talk) 04:13, 13 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Whacked typo[edit]

Under Plot, there is a typo (I hope it is a typo) that is bad enough that I am not confident in correcting it myself. It reads:

"Free from Selenas spell Ethan admits his love for Linda and that her know that she and Supergirl are one and the same"

I suspect that it should read:

"Free from Selenas' spell, Ethan admits his love for Linda and that he knows that she and Supergirl are one and the same"

Four character changed, do what you will, although I like the idea that Ethan became not only female but one and the same as Supergirl... Kid Bugs (talk) 01:45, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
