Opinion on censorship[edit]

It is understandable that the Puerto Rican community might wish to censure the producers of the show La Comay. That this has been extended into censorship and deletion of a Wikipedia article on La Comay. This extends it to secondary censorship which is "nut job" territory. The periodical of the Nazi Party Völkischer Beobachter has an article on it on Wikipedia. Whover was responsible for deleting the article should be permanently barred for vandalism. I have never seen La Comay but this is a free speech issue. Deleting an article about someone on Wikipedia because you do not like them is unacceptable. Rightfully Wikipedia administration has not sought to delete the article on Adolf Hitler or Jean-Bosco Barayagwiza La Comay according to the news coverage did not use the media to call for people to go out and kill a group of people as did Rwandas Jean-Bosco Barayagwiza. Is this article the one that was previously deleted? What is RichardBond talking about? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.79.108.233 (talk) 05:52, 15 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

aftermath[edit]

The aftermath section seems long - perhaps beyond the scope of the article, and a lot of it's based on rumors. I think that the article would benefit more from an enhanced description of what the show was like instead of frequent additions to the aftermath. -KaJunl (talk) 13:42, 25 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 4 February 2019[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Not moved. Consensus seems to be to create a new article for La Comay, which anyone is free to do. (non-admin closure) В²C 00:35, 19 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

SuperXclusivoLa Comay – This is the new name for the show, and local news outlets refer to it as so. Abequinn14 (talk) 03:43, 4 February 2019 (UTC) --Relisting. SITH (talk) 09:30, 11 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

do not move - for more than 10 years SuperXclusivo was the name of the show as seen in multiple news articles.--the eloquent peasant (talk) 16:43, 6 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Came back to this question because I just happened to watch a show on the Commodore Hotel New York, which later became Grand Hyatt New York. The article was redirected / named the new name. So is this what's normally done on Wikipedia when a place or TV show has a name change? --the eloquent peasant (talk) 21:16, 6 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
the eloquent peasant, WP:NAMECHANGES. Dekimasuよ! 22:37, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Having now read the article, I am not sure I understand why this would be treated as a continuation of the same show as opposed to being a new show. I am inclined to oppose this move and suggest splitting La Comay (TV program) from SuperXclusivo, with La Comay redirecting to Kobbo Santarrosa. Dekimasuよ! 00:16, 17 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Dekimasu's suggestion. --the eloquent peasant (talk) 22:08, 17 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Article name: La Comay or SuperXclusivo?[edit]

AussieLegend, AntonioMartin, The Eloquent Peasant, BsaPR1996, Likeit2004, Anthony Appleyard, EggBananaX, Dekimasu: This page was somehow in my watchlist perhaps bc I had edited it at some point. In any event, I saw it got move-locked today. There was discussion in Feb 2019 about a Request to move the article. I wasn't involved, but perhaps it's time to initiate a second discussion on which name the article should have, or whether the consensus is to Split it into 2 articles. Any comments? Mercy11 (talk) 03:18, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The page should be moved to La Comay because the show came back early 2019, eponymously named after the character. SuperXclusivo should be a redirect page BsaPR1996 (talk) 12:55, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think it should be moved to La Comay because that is the current name of the show, which seems to be the same show. WP:NAMECHANGES. Thanks!--The Eloquent Peasant (talk) 13:44, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The Eloquent Peasant, BsaPR1996, et. al., I have started a move request on your behalf, citing my own preference as well. Please comment (again) in the Move Discussion section as that's where you !vote will be counted by the closing admin - not here) thanks, Mercy11 (talk) 21:56, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The show has been colloquially known as “La Comay” forever, even when it was officially known as SuperXclusivo. By WP:UCRN alone, that should be the name of this article. Old School WWC Fan (talk) 22:18, 22 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 11 December 2019[edit]

The result of the move request was: Not moved. There is consensus that this is not a name change, and probably the other article should be split out.  — Amakuru (talk) 14:07, 1 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

SuperXclusivoLa Comay – Reason: Most common name in both English and Spanish. This might not be very scientific proof but my own day-to-day personal experience is that "La Comay" is a household name whereas "SuperXclusivo" is the official name of the TV program but recognized by far fewer people. That is, "La Comay" is the name that most folks associate with the TV program, and not SuperXclusivo. In any event, here are the search results I obtained:

  • Google Scholar:
  • "La Comay""- 48 here
  • "SuperXclusivo" - 18 here
  • Google News:
  • "La Comay""- 5,470 here
  • "SuperXclusivo" - 380 here
  • Google Books:
  • "La Comay""- 1.030 here
  • "SuperXclusivo" - 471 here

Unless my eyes are deceiving me, "La Comay" seems to be the Search engine winner, no? Mercy11 (talk) 21:56, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Move - I think it should be moved to La Comay because that is the current name of the show, which seems to be the same show. WP:NAMECHANGES. Thanks!--The Eloquent Peasant (talk) 23:28, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'm curious. At the last RM Dekimasu wrote I am not sure I understand why this would be treated as a continuation of the same show as opposed to being a new show. I am inclined to oppose this move and suggest splitting La Comay (TV program) from SuperXclusivo, with La Comay redirecting to Kobbo Santarrosa.[1] You supported that suggestion.[2] What has happened to change your opinion? --AussieLegend () 02:57, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It's a valid question. On my own, on Feb 6 I went from move to "do not move" because I found an item that has a new name, like a Trump hotel, went with the new name for the article. Then I changed my vote to agree with Dekimasu because I saw that they've been closing move discussions since 2007. I surmised they had a lot more experience and were suggesting the right thing. Now, I see La Comay as a character requiring their own article, like Big Bird, the loved Sesame Street character. So I oppose redirecting La Comay to the actor's page. Secondly, La Comay is the new name of the show so based on WP:NAMECHANGES La Comay is appropriate. I disagree with "Dekimasu" that they are different shows. (This is my very first move discussion, if I remember correctly, since I started on Wikipedia 7 years ago so I may not have appeared graceful but there was thought behind each vote decision.)--The Eloquent Peasant (talk) 12:33, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • As far as the Google results go, it looks like 1) most of them are not in English, which means they are not applicable to determining the common name in English; 2) a majority of the search results are for the character "La Comay", not the show. This is all the more clear because 3) most of the hits in these searches are from the period before there was any show with that name. I would still oppose this and suggest a split per the previous discussion. Dekimasuよ! 12:08, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. Is this a "Think of the old sources" case? If that's the case, remember there still more sources for Bruce than those of Caitlyn; Wikipedia cannot live in the past, especially when the present is already updated and the future will follow the trend. © Tbhotch (en-3). 15:52, 13 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • No, I do not see that any evidence has been presented to show that this falls under WP:NAMECHANGES. If there are two different shows here with a character in common, then this holds no water; e.g. we don't move Happy Days to Mork & Mindy because Robin Williams returned to the Mork character in the spinoff, Cheers is not moved to Frasier, etc. Dekimasuよ! 06:26, 26 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I see. It's interesting that if this is a spin-off in almost one year and two RMs later you haven't even attempted to make a split discussion (proposing one is equal to do nothing). © Tbhotch (en-3). 17:59, 31 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose, close and someone start a split discussion or I will after this is closed, which should have been done since the last RM. © Tbhotch (en-3). 17:59, 31 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per Dekimasu's rationale. After some research into this it seems the new program is not the same as the old so there really should be a split rather than a move. --AussieLegend () 22:54, 20 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment I believe this is the same show with a new "sidekick". The Cuban sidekick left but it is the same show. The Eloquent Peasant (talk) 12:25, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
