Since I am the original author of this page, I would like to know from you citation gurus out there if my personal experience (I lived there for 2 years) is good enough, and if so, how do I cite it? Please help. Thanks. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Andrewcoe22 (talkcontribs) 18:56, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

First, many thanks for writing this article. In general, Africa topics are under-represented on the English Wikipedia. Regarding citations, Wikipedia has a firm policy that we cannot use personal experience as a basis for articles. That would be original research. We can only use reliable, published sources; see Wikipedia:Verifiability. This can sometimes make writing articles difficult, because for some places in the world, there just aren't that many facts published in reliable sources. On the other hand, first-hand reporting about a location isn't really the responsibility of an encyclopedia, which is a tertiary source. — Matt Crypto 18:07, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
