What are the criteria for 'Notable Alumini'?

Quite. I'm deleting this Steve Meathrel chap, who doesn't show up on Google at all... iPhil 01:58, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Change in tag[edit]

...to stimulate discussion and progress. Here is the sum total of current citations in place:

  1. [1][dead link]
  2. "The Blockheads/Lee Harris". theblockheads.com. Retrieved 2013-13-19.[dead link]
  3. "Stowe House 1". Antiques Roadshow. Series 35. Episode 13. 2013-02-22. BBC. Retrieved 2013-03-19.[not in citation given]
  4. Other matches played on Stowe School Ground. Cricketarchive.com.
  5. Minor Counties Championship Matches played on Stowe School Ground. Cricketarchive.com.
  6. Minor Counties Trophy Matches played on Stowe School Ground. Cricketarchive.com (7 August 1983).
  7. List-A Matches played on Stowe School Ground. Cricketarchive.com (19 June 2005)
  8. Second XI Championship Matches played on Stowe School Ground. Cricketarchive.com.
  9. Second XI Trophy Matches played on Stowe School Ground. Cricketarchive.com.

Note, the citations are all bare URLs, there are two dead links and one "failed verification" ([not in citation given]), and all remaining are about the cricket grounds (one small section, all URLs from cricketarchive.com). No comment on the dead links (but we should be further embarrassed).

My argument regarding the change in tag is that when one is dealing with an institution of cultural and historical significance, to have this array of citations is tantamount to having no citations at all. One does not derive history of American cultural institutions from yahoo.com chat sites; nor of esteemed schools in the UK from theblockheads. The article is without a verifiable basis, and so the article deserves the unreferenced tag. And thank goodness for reliable batsmen, or there would be nothing positive to say at all.
