Rename to St Clair[edit]

In a similar fashion to the name of the neighbouring district "St Kilda" (St Kilda, New Zealand with disambiguation page St Kilda), which is most definately not "Saint Kilda", I think that references here should be returned to "St Clair" (not "St. Clair"), the page renamed, and a redirect put in place. The Dunedin City Council website refers exclusively to "St Clair", and they control the signage and "local usage"; unfortunately I have not yet found a good reference for the accepted origins of the name of this suburb itself, there are too many possible origins ... The reason that this article was named Saint Clair is that that is the official name of the suburb. Similarly, despite the fact that there was no actual saint of that name, the official name of Saint Kilda is "Saint Kilda", and that article was deliberately named that way for that reason. In both cases there are redirects from St. X and St X, so there should be no problems with finding the article (similarly, the article on Saint Leonards, when it gets made, should be at Saint Leonards. FWIW, a google search shows that the AA, UBD, Telecom's yellow pages, Wise's, the ODT, Otago Regional Council, NZ Post, Radio New Zealand, and even the NZ Government all use "Saint Clair" at least some of the time, and some of them seem to use it exclusively. As to the origin of the name, it's widely believed, though not unequivocably accepted, that it comes from the Chapel of Saint Clair near Edinburgh. Grutness...wha? 00:28, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've given thisd one a lot of thought over the last month or two, and feel that, while the official name is "Saint Clair", local usage does tend to be strongly primarily "St Clair", and similarly St Kilda and St Leonards. While the article is coming together well some thought should be given to referencing; using inline citations for publications in the present form does not provide enough information; at the least specific page numbers should be given for each entry - such as "Newton 2003, p.64", with the actual publications listed in a seperate biography after the notes.
