P[edit]

The 'P' should not be capitalized. Someone move it to Southpark

That's debatable. If it's one word then it should definitely be a capital P, but it is also completely common for South Park to be two words. --Fife Club 20:04, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The name of the area is stylized as either SouthPark or South Park. It now takes its name from SouthPark Mall and the mall's name is properly rendered in CamelCase. Aristan (talk) 03:50, 13 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Origin of the name[edit]

This article says that the neighborhood got it's name from the mall. The area was named South Park (two words) well before the mall was built. The neighborhood got it's name because it's south of the city (the city's southern edge at the time) along Park Road. --Fife Club 20:04, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is incorrect. Maps from the 50's and early 60s show the name of the area as Sharon. SouthPark was the name of the mall first, and then the area was renamed to SouthPark. The original community name and the related street names were all taken from Sharon Presbyterian Church, which used to stand where SouthPark mall now stands.
