Coat of arms and motto[edit]

The page currently displays the general coat of arms and motto of the Redemptorist order rather than the specific arms and motto of the Sons of the Most Holy Redeemer (formerly called the Transalpine Redemptorists). These can be found here: [1]. I intend on replacing these, but will begin by removing the incorrect insignia. 50.248.91.50 (talk) 22:30, 20 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'm the user who made the above IP-only comment and edits. I just added the coat of arms. — AJDS talk 21:06, 21 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

"branch of the Redemporists"[edit]

If they were formed in 1988 as part of the SPX, then they were not a branch of the Redemptorists. Were they formed as a branch of the Redemptorists who then left the Redemptorists? The confusion is continued when the article says "canonically erected as a separate religious institute in 2012." from what? not from the Redemptorists, because they were never part of them.--Richardson mcphillips (talk) 14:30, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

According to the sources, it was formed by a member of the Redemptorist congregation, adopting Redemptorist spirituality, with a Redemptorist identity, calling themselves (a type of) Redemptorist, and described in at least one source as an "offshoot of Redemptorists"[2] so it's appropriate to lightly paraphrase that and call them a branch of the Redemptorists. I think whether or not the SSPX was part of the equation or when it was later given a formal status is unlikely to be relevant - a community still exists as a community regardless of whether it was given official status as an institute in canon law. Nonetheless I think I see your point regarding the ambiguity, so I've added a bit more to the article to give some context behind the description. thanks. I was going to say "it's like an Anglican Franciscan group - are they a branch of the Franciscans?" thinking "no" but then I thought "there is a sense in which they are." Richardson mcphillips (talk) 20:54, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

"Redemptorist priest Fr Michael Mary Sim C.SS.R."[edit]

If Fr Michael Mary was a Redemptorist when he founded the Sons, would his initials have been CSsR? That's what the Wiki article says, and their own home page.--Richardson mcphillips (talk) 21:06, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
