Title change[edit]

I'd like to change the name of this article from "Dilettante Society" to "Society of Dilettanti" as this is its original name? Any objections? --Kon-Tiki001 13:19, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Notable members[edit]

The list of notable members includes both a "Lord Dundas" and a "Duke of Leeds". As far as I know, both are just titles, that have been issued to multiple people. Someone with further knowledge should revise the list plz ;) Brisbane (talk) 13:01, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Does it exist?[edit]

The article fails to make clear whether this society still exists today, and to what extent, if any, it is or has been a secret or anonymous organization. David Spector (talk) 12:26, 14 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The Society of Dilettanti has remained an all-male club, as it had been throughout its history, although its by-laws do not proscribe female membership. Since 1975, when it moved from the St James's Club (where it had met from 1922), it has held five meetings each year at Brooks's Club in London. Its numbers were limited to sixty, with six honorary members.

Name[edit]

So, does the word 'dilettante' come from the name of this society of them, or did it already exist and they merely appropriated it for their group? 2600:1004:B100:7257:5D83:10F5:3942:8FFE (talk) 01:53, 7 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
