Notability

This article (along with other the articles in its series) does not strike me as being particularly noteworthy. I have already proposed Fifth grade for deletion, and will most likely propose this one for deletion as well should the deletion of fifth grade go through. Ekips (talk) 22:59, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

Seriously?

Kids start going out and going through puberty.

Weird

"In Ireland, the equivalent is 4th Class (for 9-10 year olds)". Sorry if I'm being stupid here, but how is that equivalent to "a year of education in the United States" in which students are "usually 11 - 12 years old"? So perhaps they're retarded in the US, but that doesn't explain how this is also equivalent to "Year 7" in England (which I can confirm does mean aged 11-12).

Also, the paragraph about the definition of "the 6th grade" in Brazil strikes me as a bit weird since they presumably in fact use a Portuguese expression which would be translated into English according to the age of the children rather than according to whatever number appears in the Portuguese expression. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.140.96.21 (talk) 15:32, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

Expand Article

Maybe we should expand this article? I like how it tells a bit about what sixth graders learn in math, but what about other subjects? I'll add some about the other subjects.--Anakata 01:52, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

Please note that if you say that you will add info to an article, I normally expect it to mean within an hour unless indicated otherwise by your edit on the talk page. Georgia guy 01:55, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
But I did add the info to the article within an hour.--Anakata 19:02, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
In California the 6th grade standards for science in Earth Sciences. They cover oceanography, plate tectonics, volcanoes, earthquakes and erosion. They go into more detail than the other years because it is considered a middle school curriculum. (Hapamama (talk) 04:10, 16 September 2010 (UTC))

And it's still there after 4 years and 1 month

Why is there still a message on this saying that it needs to be changed? ESPECIALLY AFTER 4 YEARS? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.8.206.244 (talk) 21:31, 14 February 2013 (UTC)

Education in Mexico

Much of this section belongs in the dedicated article Education in Mexico. May we delete the irrelevant content here, or do we need to move some of it to that article? Dbfirs 07:36, 10 October 2017 (UTC)

Proposed merge with Year Six

Much of the content about the specific countries is already covered in the sixth grade article. There is no reason why they should be separate, even if they have a separate name. "Year 6" is mentioned in the sixth grade article and that is a more complete article. For not all the countries in the sixth grade article are called "sixth grade" either. - CHAMPION (talk) (contributions) (logs) 04:40, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

As is now made clear in the article, Year Six is not the equivalent of Grade six, so I would strongly oppose a merge. Dbfirs 07:36, 10 October 2017 (UTC)
Grade six in many countries is the approximate equivalent of Year 7 in most of the UK. Since the correspondence is only approximate, using the word "called" is misleading. I suggest using "equivalent to", but can anyone make a better suggestion? Dbfirs 10:42, 17 April 2018 (UTC)
