Questioning 'parabolic logarithm'[edit]

@Kmhkmh: in answering what I were doing:

  • I googled "parabolic logarithm", and found nothing relevant.
  • I tagged the notion for this reason –possibly wrongly– with {{cn}}.
  • After this tag had been removed, for the words stemming from some source, I tagged with {{Definition needed}}, hoping that this would be more appropriate (googling is still futile).

Now I do humbly apologize in case I violated some rules or even annoyed someone, and I do still want to know what parabolic logarithm is about, and how to correctly express such a desire. Purgy (talk) 08:10, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Actually originally I thought you had tagged with {{cn}} instead of {{dn}}. The latter would formally correct I suppose, but imho not really helpful nevertheless. As articles that use technical term often don't define them themselves, because it may beyond there scope (for instance the biography of Albert Einstein, doesn't define or explain general relativity but leaves this to other articles). In the case of no other article to link, one could leave it as it is or use a read link.
As far as the term itself is concerned, it certainly seems rare (in English or German) and is probably a literal translation of his book Parabolische Logarithmen und parabolische Trigonometrie. Quickly glancing at that, it seems that parabolic logarithm are about the geometric construction of logarithm values (a line segment with the length of the logarithm value) with the help of the logocyclic curve and parabolas (not 100% sure whether i got that right).--Kmhkmh (talk) 08:53, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
