Cleanup needed

We read that Shiseido was the first cosmetic producer in the world. I'd have thought that the first cosmetic producer in the world would be lost in prehistory. If it means the first company to produce cosmetics, I don't believe it. I'm willing to believe that it was the first company to dedicate itself to cosmetics, but I want evidence for this.

We read that "global scope" began in 1980. I think I can guess what this means, but I don't know what it means, and I hesitate to "improve" English to something that is factually wrong. -- Hoary 03:59, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
